i have a truck wish i could have afforded a runner... they command higher prices than the trucks though
I'm a truck guy myself...I just can't imagine taking stuff to the dumps or hauling car parts or dirt in a 4runner Unless you need the room for passenger capacity then a runner will do. Trucks look better when they get ugly too... just my
I had a truck & ran into a problem when more than one person wanted to go wheeling & all the other trucks in our group were full
the people i woul wheel with all have rigs so i wouldnt have to worry about room....this is a hard choice, buy a truck for 500 nd build it up or build the runner and save the truck for later on
That only means they need a truck and more rigs would have to go... The more the merrier, right?
You said you think the truck is a 2wd. Doesn't sound like an option to me. if thats the case I say stick with the runner.
damn thats a load of munchkins to bring withhow to you choose who gets to go with you?
Con: truck won't hold as many people, Load not easily removed if weight becomes an issue ('cept one passenger).Pro: Not as expensive out the gate, less people--truck is lighter while wheeling--lower center of gravity even when loaded (probably only two peoples stuff, Low chance of overloading unless you carry someone elses crap...I.E. excess from a full load in a 4runner... )Con: More expensive to start out, More people capacity for wheeling, a little more tippy when wheeling (people weight adds up fast) It helps a little with the top removed, If people capacity is full--not enough room for everybody's stuff.Pro: If weight becomes an issue while wheeling--load is more easily changed (everybody out!). We just had this situation last week... Similarities: Cost to upgrade or modify about the same, similar fuel mileage depending on engine and config (I.E.- carbed or F.I.) Capabilities when wheeling very comparable between the two. I'm sure there is much more but just food for thought since you'll be the one to decide how your rig will be used over all!
I say 4runner. I like having the ability to carry 3 additional people if i want (offroad or onroad), i love the removeable top, and if you need extra storage space you can just put down the back seats and voila, you have a covered pickup. the 2wd will take a lot more work to get going.
ture, but with truck there is no issue to storage space, and i could get a camper shell if i wanted which i prob would do anyways to stay dry and sleep in if i went with the truck
im about 5'10 so i could throw in my old mattress for padding, and be sleeping in style where ever the trial may take me.....i am 75% sure i want to go the truck route
yeah the truck is a short bed extended cab....im checking it out sunday and i will see how it worksive slept in my runner and it wasnt to comfy, plus it was last minute so i didnt have anything to stay warm with or use as a pad between me and the floor....wasnt the best but it worked for the night
