build the runner... unless you want to have 2 trucks...

i have a truck wish i could have afforded a runner... they command higher prices than the trucks though

i would love to have the truck as just a trial rig, but build the runner as well for farting around in also, just not hardcore stuff

I'm a truck guy myself...I just can't imagine taking stuff to the dumps or hauling car parts or dirt in a 4runner  :shake:  Unless you need the room for passenger capacity then a runner will do. Trucks look better when they get ugly too... :gap: :disturbed:  just my  :twocents:

the people i woul wheel with all have rigs so i wouldnt have to worry about room....

this is a hard choice, buy a truck for 500 nd build it up or build the runner and save the truck for later on

Con: truck won't hold as many people, Load not easily removed if weight becomes an issue ('cept one passenger).

Pro: Not as expensive out the gate, less people--truck is lighter while wheeling--lower center of gravity even when loaded (probably only two peoples stuff, Low chance of overloading unless you carry someone elses crap...I.E. excess from a full load in a 4runner... :gap:)

Con:  More expensive to start out, More people capacity for wheeling, a little more tippy when wheeling (people weight adds up fast) It helps a little with the top removed,  If people capacity is full--not enough room for everybody's stuff.

Pro: If weight becomes an issue while wheeling--load is more easily changed (everybody out!). We just had this situation last week... :_oops:

Similarities:  Cost to upgrade or modify about the same,  similar fuel mileage depending on engine and config (I.E.- carbed or F.I.) Capabilities when wheeling very comparable between the two.

I'm sure there is much more but just food for thought since you'll be the one to decide how your rig will be used over all!

I say 4runner. I like having the ability to carry 3 additional people if i want (offroad or onroad), i love the removeable top, and if you need extra storage space you can just put down the back seats and voila, you have a covered pickup. the 2wd will take a lot more work to get going.

ture, but with truck there is no issue to storage space, and i could get a camper shell if i wanted which i prob would do anyways to stay dry and sleep in if i went with the truck

Now you're cookin'...  With a camper shell it's a little more comfortable to sleep in as well (nice and flat), especially if you're tall.  :disturbed:

I slept in my cousins 4runner last year at Glamis and it wasn't bad (comfort wise), but I'm not as tall as you either (5' 7"), with my head at the seats and and my feet right at the tailgate. You might fit in there if you layed in there corner to corner but it may not be as comfy.  :shudder: You should fit in a standard bed (approx 6') comfortably since the space in a 4runner is slightly shorter inside than in a standard bed p/u because of the space the seats take up when folded down. But if you get a long bed then you've really got it made.  :eyebrow:
