problem after making square front drive shaft
« on: Aug 14, 2007, 08:25:43 AM »
here is my setup: '90 v6 4" SAS single case

after reading a few good write ups (minisimps being one of them ) I made my front.  I used my stock front and cut it up.  everything was good until i went to test fit it and when i put the cv end onto the flange of the tc, the drive shaft can bottom out and its about an inch off from lineing up with the flange on the 3rd.  what is the problem here?  did i mess something up?  do you all think if i did this CV mod http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/cvmod/ that it would give me enough movement on the trail?  or should i go a different direction.  i was thinking of eliminating the cv but i'd have to cut up what i have and go from there but if that my only option that what i will do.

any idea's would be great, i gotta go wheeling this weekend!

Does your joint not have enough angle on it, or is the inside of the shaft bottoming out?

i'm gonna got cut one end of a rear shaft i have and just eliminate the CV, just run normal u-joints on both ends.

The stock cv from the IFS doesn't have enough movement. You will have to clearance it or change it to a 85 or older cv. You only have a 4" lift so you might be able to just eliminate the cv.
