Holy crap, another recall! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070927/ap_on_go_ot/play_yard_recall

Play yards recalled after baby's death

"The boy was inside the company's Sesame Beginnings Travel Play Yard and the restraint strap from the elevated changing table hung down into the main play area and strangled him, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The company is now recalling a dozen different types of play yards with changing table attachments that have that type of strap."

But

"Kolcraft spokeswoman Diane Steed noted that the changing tables did have warnings on them telling parents not to put a child in the play area when this attachment is on top."

The problem is that the companies over there lie, lie, and outright lie some more.  Why?  Because there is nothing legally that we can do to them.  The same company just changes the product's name, does a bit of shell-games, and presto - business as usual.

Metal in China, for instance, that is used for export products(as opposed to arms and their military and so on) is basically whatever scrap they can melt down.  Often it's industrial waste or even might be radioactive.  They just don't care at all.  They got our money and we got shafted.

Talking about metal, try this one - it only costs you $3.  Go to Home Depot or Osh - and buy a bolt and nut.  The generic no-name ones or their store brand ones.  $1.

Go and buy a U.S. or German or Japanese made bolt and nut($2 and a bit harder to find).

Now, get out your driver.  Watch the Chinese made bolt, which is supposedly rated at the same specs fail at half the real world stress.  EVERY TIME.

They flat out lie.  People who work in the military and aerospace industry have known this for years and won't touch overseas parts(most of why our military parts are so expensive, actually - 0% foreign made costs big bucks.)  Well, that and greed of course.

In my case, I had to remove a bolt from my exhaust.  cheap Chinese made junk.  Sure enough, I laid into it and it snapped off like a stick.  Got it off, though, so in this case I guess it was the right tool for the job. the Toyota bolt I had to take off with a hacksaw blade.

just out of curiosity, what clutch did you get? either brand or part number please.

unfortunately, 90% of people do not care where it came from, they just look at price.  I deal with this all day long.  I can say that NAPA just introduced a "new"or actually relabeled brake rotor and drum line, which is all made in china.  If you don't switch your stock over, you lose coverage, because they are trying to phase out the US/Canada made parts.  They view this as "leading the way in brake coverage and price, instead of following" or some BS like that.

It's funny if you go to Wallmart and look at the recall board they have posted by customer service. It has always had a some recalls but if you see it now it is overflowing with recalls. Of course it doesn't say the country of origin but it is pretty obvious.

Let me guess this is your wedding dress, I wonder if those are made with used condoms from previous suitors? :yikes: Plus if they are not used already do we pluck one off and use it on the bride? :wink2:

I've got it, that dress progress' with each conquest starts out as a tube-top (pun intended) and continues with each encounter until it is a full-blown (pun intended) evening gown since by the time it gets that long you will not want to see what's hiding underneath.

Chinese  condom?  WTF!

If you use condoms made in China, Stop! Your better off to protect yourself by using no condoms than Chinese made condoms. On a positive note Chinese condoms are 100% effective for preventing pregnancy, they use lead as a spermicide.
