JAN has injered her self doing home improvments    lets show the    :beerchug:  :beerchug:

copy/paste from myspace

OK, I'm 30 years old and tonight I got my very first real boo-boo. I mean, I've had my tubes tied, had complications from that, then got Meningitis, but I've never yet had an actual accidental injury. Til tonight......

Many of you probably know I'm on a major home improvement binge. I took tomorrow and Friday off, and I am planning on re-caulking my tub tomorrow morning. So tonight when Brian got out of the shower, I started scraping the old caulk off the tub.

To do this, I found a very lovely, and very SHARP, wood chisel at Lowe's on clearance. Looked like it would do the job wonderfully--and it did! I had it all off and was down to one little spot where there was a big pile of gooped up caulk in this one crevass. I had my left hand leaning on the tub and was scraping with my right hand. Toward my left hand, of course, because I don't use my head. Well I was digging like hell on this patch that was being tough and all of a sudden that damned chisel let loose and I jammed that S.O.B. directly into my wrist!

OWWW!!!!!!!!!!! I let out a yelp and Brian came a'runnin and asked if I was OK. I said, I don't think so babe, not this time. I showed him my wrist and it was pretty wide open. It was a little bit meaty. haha. Not TOO awfully bad, but I knew I needed stitches.

So long story short, we just got back from the ER, and I got 3 stitches and a tetanus shot. Stitches in my left wrist and tetanus shot in my left arm, so I guess I can pretty much count my left arm out tomorrow, or so the nurse at the hospital said. I don't care though! I have a tub to caulk in the morning, damn it!!

I'll have to take a boo-boo pic and put it up. I just can't believe I made it 30 years without getting stitches or anything. But I suppose I will live. Brian brought me home and fed me ice cream. LOL!

OK, good night, and Happy 4th! :)

Jan

   Thanks Joe!  Yer so sweet :smooch:

Well here's a pic of the carnage.  LOL.  I know many of you have had WAY worse and many times over, but this is my very first one!  I was scared to death to go to the ER and get stitches.  haha.  My Mom is a campus police officer at the local University and I knew she was working 7 pm to 7 am (I did this around 10 pm last night), so I made Brian take me there first to see if "Mommy really thought I needed to go."  haha.  Well of course I did, so I went.  But it wasn't that bad!  Wasn't bad at all really.

OK, I gotta get back to caulking my tub!!  hahaha.  Catch ya all later on, and thanks again Joe.  ;)

RIP Kyle, we love and miss you man.  :smooch:

First I would like to say :slap: Don't get your other arm in the way of sharp objects!

And secondly I would like to say, NICE JOB on your first major injury!    so proud of you sharing pics, as it should be!

I have to say I've lucked out and have never had stitches (for an injury, I had a minor operation), and never broke anything.

Now suck it up, and get back to work! :whip:

Keep your head up!  It may take months if not years with frequent, painfull physical therapy but you will recover!

Don't worry, I'm all scarred up and still think the sky is falling any time I cut myself good :haha:
RIP KYOTA

Man, thanks for the support guys

Nate, I know.....somehow I will get through this.  :headshake:   Slowly, but surely.

hahaha.  But yeah, I know I'm a huge wuss.  haha.  But dude, I'm TIED TOGETHER WITH STRING.  I just don't think I'm ok with that!  :rofl2:

You shoulda seen me in the ER.  I told them I would leave if they insisted on stitches.  hahaha.  I was really pushing for the butterfly stitches, but they said since it's a high-use area, right on the bend of my wrist, real deal stitches were the best bet.

And here's a little tid-bit that I never knew before.  When you get a shot, the most painful part is the actual piercing of the skin!  If you have an open wound already, it actually hurts less for them to give you the shot right directly into the open wound.  I never knew!  They gave me some numbing stuff before doing the stitches and I about freaked out when they said they would put the needle right into the wound.  But it ended up being extremely....just nothing.  haha.

OK.....back to patching walls!   :cheese:
