triangulating rear shocks
« on: Jun 21, 2007, 08:49:31 AM »
what are the pros? cons? i hear a pro is you can get more travel out of a shorter shock but a con that it will cause more body roll. what do you think about it?

You got it - more travel, but reducing damping factor (by about 50%!) Also allows you to fit a longer shock without having to come through the bed. Just be sure to buy a stiffer shock!

Depending on how much you angle them in you can get allot of body roll. Mine are angled in and I have some body roll. My junk also flex's like a mofo.

X2 Im running Skyjacker nitro's which aren't that great of a shock and body roll isn't "bad" but the flex is well worth it.

WAY less control of the axle! You want the end that attaches to the axle to be as far out as possible...

Ive been thinking about the same thing. For those of us who DD our rigs its not all that bad of an idea.

Why don't you just buy shocks with the right damping?

When installed on an angle, they're gonna be about 50% of the normal damping. Get some stiff shocks (or better yet, tunable ones) and call it good.
