yeah but they count the shooter as one of the deaths, they should single him out from the numbers being that he's not a person.

they now say 32 victims and on top of that, the shooter killed himself -- not to mention all the people hurt

This is terrible, I feel sorry for all the people affected by this. Not to mention, the anti-gun politicians and the media are going to have a field day with it. It is very sad.

That's the sad thing.  The media will embrace the "this is exactly why we need gun control" mentality rather than the...dare I say, more logical "this is why we DON'T need gun control" mindset.  All those student's guns sure did a lot of good sitting in lockdown with the campus popo, huh :hammer:

This is a great trajedy and I feel deeply for the families/friends of those who either lost their life or were injured.  I hope the wounded all heal well and quickly.  RIP guys and gals

It is a shame that this happened. I would hate to have been one of those students completly trapped in a classroom with no where to go. Now damnit if we didnt have all this retarded gun control id have whipped out the glock and set ol boy straight. Prolly not but sure would have gave others a better chance to get out.

I thought it was common for guns not to be allowed on college campuses?  granted, I only know of the rules here in cali, we weren't even supposed to have pocket knives :stopit:

Wow, this kind of devestation makes me want to get my permit to carry a concealed weapon to take out messed up mo-fo's like these when the time arrises.  Believe me, I wouldn't be gunning to kill him, I'd just start at the knees and work my way up untill he drops his gun.  Alright, I just realized I sound like a tought guy behind a keyboard, but dammit, I want a peice of this guy.   :tantrum:  Too bad he killed himself.  I could only image what would happen to him in prison.

I just realized that when I was in high school, durring hunting season, I had a full arsonal in the back of my pickup (inside a locked shell and hidden under a carpet kit of course) and never once thought of bringing it into the school - although it was sitting in the school parking lot - and I know I wasn't the only one.  Boy have things changed   :shakehead:

the only gun allowed @ school is the one the school cop carries..... he is actually a hayward pd sargeant assigned to our school..... we have campus police, under his direction and they are duly sworn officers but they dont carry guns, the city of hayward signs their checks but they arent actual police officers....

as far as knives go, not sure about this one, most of the students in the classes teachers too, that i am in carry knives/multi tools... but i guess there might be a little tolerance for it as we are fire students/emergency responders or higher like emt or medics

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough.  I meant in the dorms.   off course, I had my full tool box in my dorm room, plenty of good stuff in there :gap:

At CSU Sacramento, there is a university PD, and they do carry guns.

Va Tech is about 20 minutes from me and as some of you know I am a college police officer at another school.  I train with the Tech guys and can tell you they have a excellent department.  One of the few Colleges to even have a swat team.  Guns are not allowed on any of the campuses around here.  After speaking with some of them today they still are not sure if they had one incident or two separate ones.  I can tell you it has been a long day here though.  My partner got off of work here at 8am and was down at VA Tech by 1030AM running rescue all day.  He had a long day in the Academic building that this occurred in.  However did not go up on the floors the swat teams informed him that they was no rush for them to get upstairs.  The guy lined everyone up execution style and shot them.  Apparently lots of head wounds.

cnn now says that they have identified the gunman who killed himself, but there was another guy that wasnt a student as a person of interest that might be related to the first shooting of the 2 people @ norris

amen to that! This is a tragedy that might have been minimalized if others were able to fight back.

I think a big reason they don't allow guns on campus is imagine a school like mine 2000 students.  Of course not all of them drink but a bunch of drunk kids with guns they get into an argument next thing you know you have a shooting incident.  I like knowing that most of them do not have guns.  They are allowed to have guns they just have to keep them in our locker.  They can check them out when they want.

Is there any more word on the shooter(s) motives? This is just shear craziness!

What is really pizzing me off are all these people yelling that after the first shooting the 26,000 student, 2900 acre multi-building campus should have been locked down!

It's easy to look back in hindsight, but the first shooting looked like nothing more then a domestic dispute gone terribly awry and they had no reason to suspect there was some nutcase on the loose. (or possiblya couple of them!)

So typical for people to want to point fingers and place blame.
