Here is with the rear bumper we built and bed caps to close off open bed ends

I did away with that rear load brake valve. I took in-line off and straight to rear brake hose, then tracked other line to front passenger side where it "T" in to front brake and moved front line direct to hose and bled system. Brakes work ALOT better!!

Very nice rig.  May I ask what you have done as far as supension and steering? Thanks

Redbeard3261

It is ALL suspension lift, I don't like body lifts or blocks. It is 7in lift. The steering is stock except for drop pitman, but I am saving for Marlin Hysteer setup. That is next big step then transfer gears (Marlin 4.7) and possible four link rear conversion as I build up confidence in getting it right and finding more info. 5.29 gears with lock-rite rear right now but when I do front dissassembly I want to move lock-rite to front and spool rear.

Does anyone know of someone who can stamp "TOYOTA" out of alluminum diamond plate? 2.5 in letters would be just right for me to put on rear bumper then the black of bumper would show through diamond plate.

Although a  long shot     you might try Sky manufacturing I know they sell a front Truss with Toyota  cut out   and they sell ther drop hangers with Sky cut out . If nothing else they may be able to point you in the right direction .

Thanks, my gearing is just about right where I can feather throttle to maintain 1000 RPMs and climb most anything but I really wanna do the Marlin 4.7 Transfer Case Gears and an Aussie up front (following everyone's advice on here THANKS guys).

Redbeard3261

Here are pics of the park map and t-shirt from the weekend. It is the best place in the world! (my world, I haven't been all the way out where you guys wheel or Rubicon or Moab)

Redbeard3261

Okay give me some input. I'm thinking since I broke my rear carrier cross pin, I'll just put a spool in the rear and put my lock rite in front. What does everyone think? It seems that would be cheapest option and no more cross pin that way. It is not a daily driver. Anyone have anything good or bad on spooling rear for primary trail rig? :help:

LilChief87

in my opinion that wouldnt be bad are you runnin chromos front and rear or wat but yea i think itd be ok as long as your runnin chromo fronts  :twocents:

Started changing rear today to IFS rear but, problem rear I was sold didn't come with u-bolt plates and tubes are bigger old ones won't work and brake lines were stripped off new one and old ones won't work. I guess I'll order u-bolt flip plates and new brake lines :snare:

Anyone know where I can buy new brake lines for rear axle? I have the extended braided and my "T" just need hard lines that run along tubes.

juancho

great project, and nice wheeling pictures! I have an 85 also.

you should be able to get the hard lines at a local salvage yard farily cheap.

or you can make your own if you buy lines from napa or any other auto parts store. they also sell a bender for brake lines so you dont collapse the line.

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

BIG THANK YOU to lilstomper my new hero/best friend for the hook-up on the rear diff!!!

Redbeard3261

For Sale: good dependable used 3rd carrier, I used this carrier for about 8 yrs, only let me down once, feel free to make offers, only reasonable ones please as this has sentimental value to my family and I

LOL had to cut open to salvage undamaged ring gear and Lock Rite, carrier was junk from center pin hole being ripped when pin broke. here is NEW spool

with ring gear

Redbeard3261

I am having the WORST day!!!! Everything was going great:
set up spool

installed it

then the driveshaft blew out busted the fuel tank  :attention:

Has anyone EVER seen this happen? I was just letting it turn on jack stands to circulate rear end fluid so I could drain it to refill to flush out small crap

holy crap, your lucky there wasnt sparks near by

yep, what could have caused this? out of balance? just free spinning?

toyotanner

maybe it already had a crease and then just spinning there it decided to bend haha
