Weekend went great with only a few small snags. Somehow lost one of the throw out bearing retainer clips, luckily my friend Chris had a spare. Also lost the second tcase mount (my old man moving in the garage and forgeting where he put it  ) but was able to get one from Wade. Otherwise everything went smooth. Big thanks to Wade and Kyle for all their help, and Chris for getting me the clip I needed so I didnt have to waste 2 hours driving to the next town over to the Yota dealer. Got the Marlin HD clutch dialed in and I really like it. That said, its a lot different from the Centerforce DF I had before. I honestly don't know where all the hate towards CF is coming from, because I actually like the CF DF much more than this. The Marlin is still a fantastic clutch, but the CF gets my pick as favorite clutch I've ever driven. The CF still had tons of life after 5 years and is retiring to trail spare, but despite the extra $$, its worth it in my opinion.

Here is the run down on what got accomplished this weekend:

New Marlin 1600 HD clutch, new throwout bearing (the CF pilot still looked brand new)
Tranny back in
Duals back in, now with 23 spline coupler and rear 4.7 case gears
New (used) gas tank
New tcase mount
Couple good wacks on the starter and a half a quart of 10w30 and the girl fired right up. Love my OG, 10 year old Red Top Optima.

Wade's truck has made quite a progression over the years. I've watched this truck evolve since we were sophmores in high school, 2001.





This is the 4runner Wade built as a gift for his dad over the last 3 years. He's definitely the coolest old man I've seen driving around Grass Valley 



Trucks back at my friends house for storage until I get another parking spot down here and finish everything up. Basic list of to-dos is:

New tires. Looking for used 35x12.50x15 tires, preferably old mtrs, bfg muds, or bfg ats.
Alignment
Oil pan and valve cover gaskets, oil/filter change
Full tune up: plugs, cap and rotor, wires, rad flush, etc
New center pins in the 63s
Build a custom gas tank skid plate
Fix rear window
Wash, wax
Clean interior, remove the probably 200 black widows and cobb webs inside and under my rig. Found a widow today that had an abdomen larger than a nickel... and she was angry.

Rock Lights
Slider to front/rear bumper tubes
ARB HP front
30 spline longfields and hub gear
Onboard air

This is going to go slow, but thats my plan over the next 6 months or so. The last couple things are wants, not needs, and will come as money permits. The rest will be taken care of soon, hopefully. Felt damn good to drive the old girl again.... miss it so bad. Can't wait to get her to my new place.

Thanks. Yeah, can't wait to have everything dialed in and get some new tires. Shouldn't be more than a weekends worth of work to have it trail ready. Biggest thing holding me back really at this point is tires. My front two MTRs are still in good shape so hopefully I can find another set of 35x12.50 old mtrs.

In my opinion, the duals with 4.7 in the rear is perfect for technical trails. Don't like goin' 4.7 slow? Put it in second gear! It's awesome!

Oh yea, I love the dual ultimates. 2.28/4.7 is the perfect combo for me too. I had them before, I was just replacing a bad, old 4.7 gear set in the rear case. I actually had 4.7s with a single case when I got this 4runner over 5 years ago.

Yeah interal cage is definitely on the list of to-dos. My friend got a tube bender so once I get some tube we can start working on that.

Just keep me posted.... with my school schedule its best to let me know a couple weeks in advance. I'm down if I can get away to finish what needs doing and get some tires.

Lonely. Turns out I have less than a month off between quarters for winter break, so I will be tinkering with it next week when I go back home, and hopefully smashing it in the snow around my house a bit. I want to bring it to my new place as soon as I can find a good deal on tires, just super broke at the moment and nothing great has materialized yet. If I can find a good payment plan, I might spring for some new MTRs or BFG MTs.

Yes i believe its through the creit company you go through.

Goodyear might even have a rebate if u buy a set.  I think last time i looked it was a 75 or a 100 dollar rebate on a full set.
