I saw this link in the paper today and thought it was interesting.  I didn't realize that the 7 Wonders of the World changed throughout history.  I will be looking at the 21 options tonight and placing my vote.

I can't imagine how the Statue of Liberty is on the list, maybe it is simply a result of American arrogance, but the structure simply isn't that amazing compared to other things in the world.

I'm sure Stonehenge will be getting one of my votes, science still can't prove how it was built.  I have my own opinion...

Cool! I knew there was more then the original 7 wonders of the world, but didn't know we were constantly choosing more.

I made my pics...

Chichen Itza – cause they made human sacrifices

Colosseum – cause they had elaborate design that made wild animals appear to come out of the floor and they ate Christians much to the glee of the crowd

Easter Island – they built and built these crazy statues till they had no more natural resources.

Great Wall – Maraudering Huns... need I say more?

Neuschwanstein Castle – it's a castle, duh!

Pyramids of Giza – more human sacrifice

Stonehenge – the aliens said I had to pick it!

It's not the structure that makes it a wonder, what it has symbolized to a huge number of people on the planet is the amazing thing about it.

Hope

Why would it be American arrogance?
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first.

I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.

Actually it's a pretty bleak field to choose from. I can think of many more important things that fall within the time framework.

I did a little bit more research on the ancient wonders of the world and I will admit it fits better than I originally thought.  Having said that, I still don't think it can be compared to the pyramids or stonehenge.  If it was the "7 wonders of the US" I would certainly include it, but I would bet the majority of the world really doesn't care.  It doesn't have meaning to the entire world and it certainly isn't an amazingly unique structure from the engineering point of view.  I actually would put the Golden Gate Bridge ahead of it.
