Hey guys, I don't know if this is real or not, so here I go spreading it around  :hahaha:

I got this from my sister, and my sources say that she only mails me the good stuff

JUST A REMINDER....19 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls...YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS...To prevent this, call the following number from you cell phone: 888-382-1222.
This is the NationaL DO NOT CALL LIST.  It will only take a minute of your time.  It blocks your number for five (5) years.  HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS OR GO TO: http://www.donotcall.gov.  Might save you a few bucks!

So has anyone heard about that? I checked http://www.donotcall.gov and it looks legit.

Little more reading reveals that this is a total myth, telemarketers will not be getting all the cell phone numbers, it remains illegal for them to call cellphone numbers.

It's usually easy to tell, all the telemarketers that have called me show up as a FIVE digit phone number, ie, 44268.

The Donotcall.gov thing works.  I've registered all my phones and haven't gotten any telemarketers, except the ones that you have accounts with, ie. sprint/embarq, at/t, gas companies, creditcard companies.  But you have to tell them not to call unless there is unusual activity!  Sprint used to call me every week with special offers, and I was if you can't send it too me for me to read, then don't call!  My cell phone on the other hand has been horrorible!  They gave oregon two area codes awhile back, well, The Dalles/Hood River area is basically the split between the two codes and they gave one town a new prefix cause they were running out of numbers!  So, alot of people try calling LRH Paving and forget which side of town they are on!  And guess what!  I get the calls if they are calling from an 503 area code, when they are trying to call a 541 area code!  Which we have the same phone number.  And to top it all off, my caller id box on the front of my cell phone died!  So, I can't see who's calling!

So, if I'm in a good mood I'll really mess them up BAD!!!!  Like on guy called to say he'll be late for work and I said OK, I'll let the boss know!  Or I'll take orders for 5 or 100 yards of asphalt also!  I've called the company and told them the problem and don't seem to be worried about it!  So, screw them!

Considering i use my phone for buisness  aswell as personal  My number is out there a bit so i get calls on parts and quotes.  So i cant just not answer.  and its really annoying when they call so much  and you are trying to do somthing  or are in the middle of talking to a customer.

My home phone is on the national DO NOT CALL list but politicians seeam to think they are above the law and continue to call with there automated campign calls and wake my wife who sleeps during the day and works as an er nurse at night. For those who insist on thinking that they are better than the rest of the world I activly campaign against them. Two of the political callers that think they are too good to follow the rules are Richard Pombo and Barbara Boxer. Please DO NOT  vote for either one.

The only vote I would cast for barby boxer is whether to use a pine box or to dump the body beside the road.  She doesn't deserve to breath our oxygen!

I've been on the do not call list since I first heard about it, but I frequently get these messages that say, "hello, this is NOT a telemarketing call.  We have important news/business to discuss with you, bla bla bla", yet they never mention my name or what they're calling about.  What's funnier is that they want ME to call them, and there's not even an option to stay on the line and talk to somebody.  I very rarely even answer my home phone since it's really only for internet, but once in a while I'll pick it up for the chance to bust a telemarketer.

When telemarketing people call I keep them on the phone as long as posible. Time is money to them. When they call to do a survey I ask if they are going to send me a check. Of course they always say no so I ask them if they are getting paid. They of course say yes and then I suggest to them that they must think that they are more important than I am because they are getting paid but they arent willing to share in the benefits of the survey. There are other tactics I use also but the bottom line is when I get done with them they dont want to do telemarketing any longer.
