Hey guys, just wanted to say howdy.  I am switching my Sami over all Toyota running gear (w-56, dual cases with 4:7:1 in rear case, twin sticks, 83 front CV shaft in rear, 81 front axle and 87 rear with 5.29's and ARB's) behind a VW 1.9 turbo deisel.  Anyway, with all the Yota stuff, I will be browsing around here a bit.

:welcome: to the board nice to have another Sammi owner here, I'm considering that VW conversion and will like to see how well it works. Petrowork's has done a few and say they are cool but what I wanna see is performance, are they dogs or do they give some good on road power.

Wow, that is some response.  THANKS guys!

I am from Santa Rosa CA.  Most of my buddies wheel Toyota's (and some very sweet ones I might add).  There are a few Samis in the group too.

Here is a pic of my Sami.  I have wheeled it for about 8 years now.  My goal is to have the most capable rig I can and still keep the stock sheet metal.  I have managed to stretch the wb 12 inches and am on 35's with YJ's.

My Jap big block (1.6  ) was worn out so I decided to do something very different.  There are a few 1.6NA diesels out there, and a few less 1.6 td's.  The 1.9td are rare since they didn't sell them in the states.  The 1.6 NA is equivalent to the 1.3 in power, but has more low end.  The 50+ mpg is its real selling point.  The 1.6 td has power equivalent to a 16-valve 1.6 plus or minus, but is cheap to build and can be hot-rodded to 175 hp if you want to (BTW, the 1.6 redlines at like 7,000 rpm's :shocking: ).  The 1.9 td has about 80 hp and 107 ft-lbs.  An intercooler and screw driver can get you into the low 100's.  Aneroid pin mods and a few other small changes can get you 150 hp pretty reliably.  I will tune mine for about 120 hp.  In a car that had 55 or so hp stock, that will be a LOT!  Here is a link to the write-up I am doing on my current build.  The Sami t-case has a high-range of 1.5:1 or so.  The diesel will really appreciate the 1:1 of the yota cases.  http://bbs.zuwharrie.com/content/topic,30603.0.html

Thanks.  Like most things, I copied them off of someone elses rig I saw several years back.  They are really convenient to make as they use the stock inner door latch.  They are very comfy too.

Thanks guys.  I got the engine, tranny, and t-cases set in the truck this weekend.  I hope to run the engine tomorrow and be wheeling in two weeks or so.
