KRAWLERS or IROKS????
« on: Jun 14, 2006, 08:44:41 AM »
I'm about to be purchasing some new tires for my Buggy Project and I need some input from you guys on what tire I should buy.  I want to hear some real world experience with these and what you guys think.  I'm not worried about their snow performance but mostly the rocks.  The final weight of the rig is only 3200lbs.

Sorry about this gotrocks, but I might as well get it out of the way...

:flamer: Did you search for information prior to posting?  :rofl2:

As for IronClad - Did gotrocks give any indication that he cared if Krawlers performed well in the snow?  :slap:

I would vote for Krawlers since we know they work well.

id imagine because his avitar is him snow wheelin.. figured he liked to snow wheel..   dont be ignorant.   and if  up there is anything like here in nor cal  its snow wheelin from november/december till july.

krawlers arent the end all tire  and work good in certian type of rock and not good in others.   here for example  smoked iroks will work better than  krawlers and new iroks.

I'm not worried about their snow performance but mostly the rocks.

I already have a snow rig (my avitar) this is my play rig for nicer weather and mostly the rocks.  I won't be just wheeling in the northwest ALL of the time.  I will be making trips to the Rubicon, Moab, and other places in Colorado through out the year.  I don't just wheel in the snow.  Oh and blackdiamond I did do research.  I could post a bunch of stuff up about the tires if you wanted me to but I want to hear what people have to say about them first hand.  I know that the tires have their pro's and con's I just kinda wanted to hear what guys who've used them thought.

Iroks kick ass on the rocks and snow.  I had 40" Iroks and loved them, they glued to the rocks.

Oh and blackdiamond I did do research.

I was kidding with both of you, I just figured that every tire thread seems to get a "search flame" so I got it out of the way early.

the krawler isn't big enough,  for a full on buggy go 42's or bigger.  might as well with 60's.  from what i have seem first hand is the iroks kick major but in the rocks, they stick pretty damn good.  i haven't been seeing tomany trucks out there with krawlers so that must be a sign.

i agree that the krawler isn't big enough but it seems like most of the buggy guys are running 40's  I really wish the the IROK's came in a 44 or possibly a 47 but the 47's would probably be so much more that it wouldn't be worth it.  I will be using yukons in my 60 with the Bobby ujoint.  I know that I can run anything that I want with the rear 14b.  That rock anchor needs some clearance in the rocks.

I have only ever run MTR's and love them...That being said I just purchased 20" beadlocks and had to go with Irok's since neither MTR's or Krawlers offer any tires for 20" rims.

is that because you want to have a smaller sidewall?
