How much for old IFS crap?
« on: Jun 03, 2006, 01:19:52 PM »
I'm trying to do some budgeting for my SAS project.  How much do u guys think I can get for the stuff I take off? Housing (which is in great shape), axles, a-arms, tie rod, Precision Gear 4.88's (installed 9/05), Downey HD torsions, idler gusset (Downey I think), and all the other stock parts. I know it's probably not alot.

Depends how you're going to sell it. No matter, I'd start searching on ebay and www.car-part.com for  similar items and see what they're selling for. Then price yours accordingly!

Thanks, AT!

You got it!

Have you started collecting stuff for the swap?

I am just collecting money right now. Lots of it. I have the axle available. Still researching which swap kit to use.  Right now Marlin and All-Pro are at the top of the list.

As we always say...keep us posted! I'm going over to look at the AP kit, I haven't hit their site in a while.

I've had two sets given to me   that should help a little :hahaha:

You can get some $$ for the gears/housing, is it locked?  if it is, I'd try $200-250, if not, mabye $100 off that.

Axles you can probably get rid of for $15-25 bucks a piece.

I wouldn't bother with the A-arms, scrap them.  Steering stuff, same thing most likely

I'm sure you can sell the torsion bars, but I have absolutely no idea what you should ask for them.

I would suggest keeping your eye out for a fellow wheeler with an IFS rig, and try to sell/trade.  I collect IFS parts, simply on the chance that I'm going to break mine, but I have yet to buy any of it, its all given to me.

you can probably get about 50 for the torsion bars (that is what I paid for my used ones)  Axles you will get 20 pretty easy for them, and for the diff I'd ask no less than 100 for it; you could get more if you found someone who loves IFS and needs the gears.  I don't think the AP kit is as good as the marlin kit.
When I can convince my wife to let me SAS my 89 then I will probably just get the cross over steering from marlin and just use rears up front (to save on some cash).  I'd like the kit because you know that you have everything needed for the swap.

I don't know the value of them but if you have the heavy duty tire rod I would possible know someone that would be interested.
