steering stabilizer placement?
« on: Apr 26, 2006, 07:25:51 PM »
Ive had marlins steering stabilizer sitting around my shop for a couple months now ... and am finally ready to install it... where is the best place to mount it and please post some pics and insight.  Also how big a difference is it going to make as far as handling and bump steer?
Thanks,
Andy

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

Weld one mount to the inside of the passenger side frame rail, bolt the other side to the drag link.

I just did a sas on my 86 and I just installed my stabilizer bolted to the drag link i think, and to a bracket that was still on the frame from my IFS, I think it was a stop for the idler arm.. I have a pic of each side sorta... here..

Just took some pics of mine.  Don't make fun of the dark brown color, as I painted it at night and spray can said black.   :smack:

Although, mine is from AllPro and their weld-on bracket wraps around the the passenger frame rail, which no doubt increases the strength and streamlines the look.  I'm sure Marlin's is very close in design...

Enjoy!
