hey crawler`s

we have the crossover steering kit from MC and now the question...

i saw different pics and now i m a little confused whitch is the best....  :dunno:

what`s your opinions

thanks

well, theres an old steering stab. mounting location that was used for the IFS, i put mine about an inch or two ahead of that, on the bottom of the frame and mine works great or like it should. :beerchug:
86' yota, extra cab, duals, HP frnt with detroit 4.88s, V6 rear with detroit 4.88s, bobby super set, driveline tech dl's, neat lil upgrades on the way can someone say 4link and dovetail front...

The best place is from the housing to the tie rod. This keeps it parallel all the time. If you mount it to the frame and drag link, when you flex the angle between the drag link and stabilizer will increase and the dampening effect will be greatly reduced.

I sure hope your not at speed when you flex!!! That's pretty much the only time a steering stabilizer works....at speed to control bump steer and mask other problems.

so

that`s now oure first test and here the picture

Apparently you've never clipped a rock or stump etc while you were wheelin and had the steering wheel spun out of your hands. That's why you have a stabilizer and that's why you don't drive with your thumbs wraped around the steering wheel.
When the passenger side droops on that set up above the stabilizer is purpondicular to the drag link and doing next to nothing for you. You can do it half ass because it's easy and there's already a bracket there, or you can do it right.

yotacrawler4

what u mean do it right isnt what fongs pic of the right way

If you honestly think a steering stabilizer will keep that wheel from jerking out of your hands, well, you've never hit a rock or stump yourself. ;) I was refering to your post about it loosing the ability to dampen when flexed out. Ummm....ok, if you need it to damper during flex, they sell those uber cool triple stabilizer kits.

Well, it sure is going to slow it down a whole lot more than if it wasn't there, or if it was at an angle that prevented it from doing it's job. Don't you think that having it parallel 100% of the time with link that it is connected to would be better than it only being able to do it's job when everything is lined up right?

Yotacrawler4, The way Fongs is mounted will work until you start getting suspension travel. Then the stabilizer will no longer be parallel with the link that it is connected to and will lose it's effectiveness.

Also going over large enough bumbs that would cause the front end to really compress and extend (like a rail road crossing or big dips on a logging road) could cause some bad bump steer. When the front drops and the drag link angle down from the steering box accross to the pass side arm, the stabilizer will angle the opposite way. If the suspension compresses fast the stabilizer may not compress as fast and could push the wheels to the left.
It just works better and safer to mount it to the tie rod.

WHITE_TRASH

Mine is mounted to the underside of the frame and to the draglink and it does its job onroad beings my dragling only rises about 3" above the tierod so its iat a good angle onroad.  It works but it'll get scrapped soon when I put my hydro assist on.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Fongs

thank`s all

I will reconsider the position of the stabilizer and test them

so is fongs good for on the road use i could really care less about wheelin cause yeah that wheelin?
