« on: Apr 01, 2006, 11:24:27 AM »
k well is the stock clutch have a good seating pressure? cause i notice its slips every so ofton. it sliped majorly when i had stock gears and tried to crawl up 2 logs under opposite tires. i ask this cause i was told its a new tranny in my eyes that means a new clutch. but who know if it is... so is it common to slip cause its stock? or what??

A new clutch should not slip period, it just most likely was not replaced, because they are expensive.  I put a new clutch in my 4-runner and it was awesome, it was a stock replacement and i got from the parts store for $80.

No clutch in a manual trany should slip unless it is a slipper type clutch, used often on motorcycles to control wheel chatter when braking into a corner but thats a whole new topic.  And a clutch like that would not be used for our application in a truck.

the pedal has an adjustment on the rod that goes into the master cylinder and some slaves have an adjustable pushrod

Goat,  the stock clutch is designed for 4.10 and 29inch tires,   i have marlins 1200 clutch and love it

on the bell housing you have a slave cylinder and a clutch fork, between the 2  is a bolt like thing,  adjust it to be shorter till you have just a slight amount of freeplay
