Clutch adjustment question

Hey all, First off I have an 85 4x4 p/u with an R151F 5 speed and a Marlin HD clutch assembly. Now my question is how do I adjust the clutch to get it so the release point is closer to the floor and not so far up? Is it just a matter of bleeding or pedal adjustment then bleeding or ??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Brian,

What's up?

On some setups, the pedal will have a threaded stud that the clutch pivots into and works off of, just like the throttle cable right before the body. It is possible to get up in there and adjust those nuts which would effectively raise or lower the placement of the pedal itself.

   I was looking at the instructions ya'll sent with the clutch and I guess there is a min distance from which the pedal has to be away from the floor so that the fork ends up with a full range of motion and not limited by the pedal hieght. I see the logic in that, maybe if I adjust that to spec it'll help but what's going on is the actual engage/disengage of the clutch is very high on the pedal travel *(i.e. if your pedal has 7" of travel then it would engage/disengage approx. 6" off the floor)* I just would like it so that when I release the pedal from the floor and when it gets about 2" off the floor the clutch is starting to grab. I don't know if this is possible but I would like it that way if all possible.  I don't want to do anything to cause premature wear on the clutch and the assembly but...well you get my point. Also now that I have the 5 speed my idle is not "kicking" down when I come to a stop and have the clutch in or even if I come to a stop in (N) with the clutch out, I have to tap the gas really quick to get it to "kick down" and then it's fine. Now I have my emissions testing by the end of this month and I know that's going to fail me alone at the idle test. Any ideas of what this might be? I seem to remember reading somewhere that the idle for a M/T vs A/T are slightly different but this is far from that. I would guess *(no tach)* and say that when idle is proper it's somewhere around 600-800rpm when it's high like I explained above it's probably around 1200-1500 maybe even slightly higher. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
