How many of you actually use a CB

Talking to a lot of my friends, they don't really use them. Most don't even have them in their trucks. On our last wheeling trip I was walking up a hill next to a truck and heard someone say something over the CB and had to do a double take because I never hear them. So how many people actually use them? I ask because the truck I am looking at has one, and I am curious wether I should just sell it or use it.

We use them all the time on the trail. Our club also sport 2 meter radios for distance.

I have a CB in my truck, it was one of the first "mods" that I made.  I grew up wheeling with CB's in the rigs.  Most of the time they are far superior to the family channel stuff.

I hope that people don't stop wheelin with cbs. they can really get you out of a jam if your stuck. Its also pretty cool to talk to the truckers in traffic, they are a hoot!

Pretty much why we still carry a cb even though we've moved on to a more powerful radio. Except for non-members we use the 2 meter exclusively but we also have a cb in each truck to be able to talk with those on a run with us that don't have one.

I remember once when we were like 15 we realized we could talk to truckers on the freeway from his driveway on the CB. Man was that fun! :ha_ha:

there was a time when, lets just say the the truck was... um home...  So i spent a little time in it, the things i herd. Ther is like a old man network of crazies that all talk to each other. They don't even have anything to say, they just like to yell at each other.

You might have been hearing us...

One thing that would always get them is "My truck's bigger than yours!" in the most redneck accent we could muster. That would get them talking. "Oh is that you in the little pink truck?"

LOL that is so true!  I have a cb and just recently used it and it was great!  I am going to get my friend's fixed because it is really convienant especially on the way to trails, like if you have to stop somewhere and relieve yourself.

I have mine on a semi-quick disconnect. I only use it when trail riding. It'll just get stolen if I leave it in the truck in the city w/no doors.  We use them for navigation communication and spotting from behind. :driving:

They are also nice to use when traveling in groups on two lane mountain roads.  People get really nervous when you pass them on a double yellow on a blind corner, they don't realize you have "eyes" out in front.

If ya don't use them around here ya'll, get a log truck parked on top of ya!  I believe in using mine!  I've narrowly missed the duals on a truck one time!  And ya got to call out at every marker along the road!

be VERY careful  when messing with cross country drivers

I have a CB and a ham radio.  Truckers use CBs all the time.  As a matter of fact their inane chatter keeps channel 19 going all the time.  Whenever I hit traffic I turn mine on to see how bad it is and where it clears up.

As for trail runs, we use our cb all the time.  The running commentary cracks me up and it's good for deciding where to go next and making sure that nobody is stuck or having trouble.  The ham is a better technology but there aren't nearly as many wheelers that have them so it usually serves as a private line to one or two guys.

truckers (and i mean cross country trucks)  all have them, whether  they answer someone that they KNOW isnt another trucker  is  what you need to understand

only time in my 10 years on the road i tore up a front bumper was to help a young  couple that had just started out driving, they were both 22 i think, they had listened to some crackhead on a cb on how to get into Huntspoint Market,  they ended up in a dead end in the projects  , luckily i had dropped my trailer at a shipper and was about to hook to a empty trailer when i heard them yelling for help on the CB  , they had 3 cars they used to box them in,  but  they didnt count on me and another veteran driver  just not givin a damn,i disabled all 3 cars  :eyebrow:  while my buddy pinned two of the :idiots:  in the back of the couples trailer

oh the good old days :driving:
