X-member-T-Case lift Question!!
« on: Mar 28, 2006, 10:07:15 AM »
Who has raised the transfer case mount on a stock length driveline?  How much did it extend your front driveshaft...mine is a little long, and I wouldn't mind a litle extra clearance under there...
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

Just get the Marlin Heavy Duty Cross-Member, or similar, and call it even.  You will gain some additional clearance and keep the drivetrain in the factory locations.

OK, let me be clearer, My front driveshaft is a wee too long and needs to be shortened.  I was thinking though, what if I put a spacer or something under the t-case and raise it up a bit?  It should extend the front driveshaft a bit and decrease the angle as well...anybody have any knee-jerk reactions as to this being a bad fix?

It will increase your angle.

If you leave the motor mounts alone then the t-case will move in a slight arc as you raise it, although for all intents and purposes it is probably negligible either way...I really wanted to know how much it will affect driveshaft static length.

I would think it would change it about zero.  It certainly won't change it enough to matter when compared to the travel in the splines.

Measure from TC flange to front flange.
Figure out how high you want to raise the TC.
Measure from Imaginary TC flange to front flange = new length.

It is not going to help your angle in any way.
In theory yes it will move in an arc type motion, but you cant raise it high enough to make a noticable difference.  You will kill your motor mounts, and if it is tillted to far forward your valves in the back of the motor may be starved of oil.

I just dont see it doing any good unless you are looking for ground clearance, and still i only tilted mine 1" :dunno:
