awsome another mini trucker on marlin.... i thought i was alone, i have seen your truck a bunch of times on SSM, looks killer, i have a 91 Isuzu that I'm in the process of dodydropping right now also ........ good luck on finding a 4x4!!!

Thanks man! I've been wanting a matching truck since I got mine. I just sold my daily so I'm on a frantic search for one I can go nuts on when my truck is driveable.

I too would like to see more of your Taco, it looks badass. Maybe that Isuzu too.

Truck looks mean with the bed bobbed. I like the olive drab, and the bullet holes in the tailgate.

Thanks! Lots of people think they are fake bullet holes until they get closer and feel that they are real LOL

I really like the bob job on it.  I hope I can get a Taco someday.  Thats my ultimate truck.

Nice clean bob. Are you gonna put filler on it or just leave the welds?

Oh definitely filled it in haha. Bondoed yesterday, came out pretty good :)

Here it is all finished up. I had time lastnight to cut my bed rug down to fit. You can't even tell it was bobbed now LOL

Next project...Bed cage :)

damn thats lookin hella clean, nice job.

Thanks! I have a friend who used to work at a body shop, he said I was crazy for sanding down the bondo with a power sander and having it come out as good as it did LOL Anyway, onto the bed cage!!

I did one fully bondoed bob job on my 85 it looked nice at first but I beat it down. Def do the bed cage! Gotta love the drab paint. Kinda wish my runner was that color, hides the dents and touches up easy.

Looks sick. I bought that same paint from a local army store in the can and it comes out really bad and uneaven...i was going to spray my truck with it and then i didnt because it was all splotchy. Did you spray it or rattle can it? I can see yours is all even lookin.

You saved a lot of time, i hand sanded my bob job and took soo long.

Oh I'm gonna do the bed cage for sure :) Here are my very rough sketches on how it's going to look :D

Thats funny about the paint. I almost want to paint my truck bright orange or bright yellow LOL

I rattle canned it. I used Aervoe paint and it comes out really nice. At first, the paint wasn't as even as it could be but once the sun heated it up and stuff, it ended up looking pretty good. My only gripe is that the old paint has faded and anything I paint over it is a brighter color than the old stuff

Here is a link to the paint I used. The paint is 6 cans for 22 bucks, not 1 can for 22 bucks. Their site is messed up :D

I used the same paint from Aervoe, i think the cans i got were old or something, thats why it didnt come out too good.

I decided it would probably be good if I built cages for my truck since I'm only rollin' around with liability insurance. If I roll it, I'm screwed  I'm planning on either purchasing the Offroad Solutions Tacoma cage kit or building my own. Will probably end up purchasing the ORS one though  For now, enjoy the pictures :)

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

Nice bob and cage job I like it. Did your diamond rear come with that brake line or did you have that made some where else?

Kevin

Reynolds

I had Brian bend up the brake line for me since I didn't have the tools or know how to do it myself :D Sorry it took so long to get back to you...
-Brian

Reynolds

Well the Aervoe "Dark Green" paint decided to fade pretty bad on the roof and hood so I painted the entire truck...with a roller! :D It turned out pretty well, I like it :) I should've never painted it green in the first place LOL Good thing this roll on paint job only costed me about 100 bucks :)

-Brian

havik

looks super clean for a roll on job. sucks about the old paint. i loved that old paint. newer truck + flat paint= sickness.
but the black looks nice
got another 85 runner. build coming soon!!

Yota4life

What paint is that? Is it the pictures or what but it looks smooth like it was sprayed on?!? Good job!
