mrswillymammoth thank you vary much. i take great pride in my dog. he gos damn near every where i go. when i got him i wanted to prove pits can be the best dogs. and he is. super smart dog with a great personality good with small kids, baby's and other animals as long as its not another dog his size that trys to punk him out. he wont start a fight but if another dog trys to punk him he wont take much. and hes not one of those crazy dogs that will try to kill a dog in a fight he just lets em know what they are dealing with. hasn't happened much. i try to keep him away from any opportunity to put a negative image on the bread.

and for his size its mostly genetics. he is the grandson to bigblock(motorcitypits.com) and the grate grandson to Chevy the red dog. who is a 4 time world champ weight puller of a max weight pulled at 11,030 lbs no BS.
that and i give him good healthy dog food a good diet and regular exercise. i used to work him pretty hard but i don't have as much time as i once did. when he was a pup i gave him the best dog food on the market till he was about 1 yr old.
now he is almost 3 and weighs in at around 85-87 solid lean mass.
thats my boy

aim in the military and when i am gone on deployments i feel safe with him home with my wife.

Hell yeah man. Thats what I have done with my baby girl, Jada. I have always been a fan of the bully breeds because of their loyalty, personality and intelligence, unfortunatly in my area they have a bad rep (as with any location really) so I use her as an embassador to the breed, to show that despite their negative image, they are the best damn dogs a man could ask for. I love my Jada and she is the nicest dog I have ever seen. Hell her best friend is a cat, that just proves right there that the media hype is all BS. bullies arent bullies, they are homies. I cant stand how people can have such a biased, negative stereotype of our dogs. They just dont know what they are missing out on.

I have always had dobermans.  I think its how you raise the dog just like a child if you treat it bad it will behave bad.  If you treat it right it will behave right.  A marine buddy of mine in Hi. has a pit he pulls sleds with it best behaved dog I have ever seen.

word
pit bull attacks= ratings in the news/media. if you take 20 min and do research for your self you will quickly find out for your self that it is all hype and pit bulls have no human aggressive disposition. they were never meant to be guard dogs
i do believe they do require more responsibility though because of their power and what they are capable of in the wrong hands
on that note i think dog fighting should be a felony offense. i cant stand it and in my eyes any one that fights dogs for entertainment should be put in intense pain for prolong amounts of time.

I agree on the pitbulls, they can be great dogs if raised well.  The problem with them is that if they get mean they are strong enough to kill.  I suspec they were bread for fighting/guarding, but I think that it has more do with with their physical strength than the personalities.

My wife and I are looking at a 3-1/2 month old rott tonight.

pits were never meant to be guard dogs. guard= human aggressive. i have speant hours researching pit bull history. originally pit bulls survival relyed on being human friendly. when an owner would fight their dog if the ref. would call the dogs to break you had to phisically pull your dog off the other. if your dog bite you he was automaticly dq  and was usually killed. also originally the pit bull fighting dog was also a house dog that was kept around the family. now a days they are kept in small crates or chained up unless they are training or fighting.

rottys can be good dogs but i don't care for them much. they were originally intended to be guard dogs. also they are just to big for my liking. and pound for pound they are not all that impressive for strenght and drive. by no means am i saying they are weak. rotts are beasts.

blackdiamond iam not trying to pick on you but if you do some research its not so much the strengh that kills but the level of aggression.
and for a bread they don't get mean. its the breadding and upbringing. inbreeding = retarded dogs.
also i read this thing about all these dog attacks and most of them were from little fo fo dogs.  there were alot of little dogs that have killed small children or baby's. but it was a pro pit article

I would agree, I was just saying that the large stronger dogs can do more damage easily given the chance.

Here is the "little" puppy we brought home tonight.  He is just a little over 3 months old and really seems to have a great personality.  Everybody that sees him comments on how big he's going to get, his feet are huge.

Spot on.  As much as I dissagree with dog fighting period, the history of the breed proves the point that these dogs, (while capable of dog aggression) were not bred to be harmful towards humans what so ever. Like havik said, those dogs that showed signs of human agression were killed, and their genes were not passed on. Pit bulls have never been "Guard" dogs, that is why it is so hard to train a pitt bull to be a guard dog without chaining it up, denying it of love, attention and food. The truth of the matter is that the pitt bull breeds are one of the most loyal, gentle, human friendly dogs available. How a person raises their animal determines the behavior of the animal. Statisticaly speaking, golden retrievers are the most "dangerous" dogs, as the number one assailant in dog bite cases in the USA is from golden retrievers. How pitt bulls became the scapegoat of the dog world is beyond me. All I know is that the most well trained, gentle and loving dogs I have ever met were pitt bull breeds. Rotts are good dogs too, but from my experience, I have a bias agaisnt them. When I was 12 or 13 i was riding my bmx bike home from a friends house and a rott began to chase me. I had never rode a 1 spd bike so hard in my life. I really thought I was going to die. For years I hated rotts because of it. After a while though I realized that any domesticated animal has the potential to be violent and dangerous. It is how the animal is cared for and raised that matters. Generalizing that pitt bulls are human killers is like saying that anyone of middle-eastern decent is a terrorist and hates Americans. Its just ignorance. I wish our society could wake up and smell the roses and stop focusing on bull crap agendas that do nothing but demonize an innocent creature.

You guys bring home an important message here . I had a pit/boxer mix and he was absolutely the best. I miss him a lot since he died 2 years ago and I believe that any dog can be non-human friendly given the right (or wrong) raising.  I hate the media along these lines since often they'll report that a "pit bull attack took place" then they show the dog and it's a rott or a dobey or even a chihuahua  :haha:, WTH? As far as gaurd dogs go, a pit bull can be a good idea since with the notariety they've gotten they're often feared and not really dangerous...  :joke:.  The bigger thing that sucks for homeowners like myself is that even home insurance firms will add a premium or not insure your home if you own an "agressive breed", man that pisses me off  :maddest::rant:

Back to the topic, I love some of these pics. Especially the dogs and their trucks pics. yes, the dogs are part owners of their respective trucks.  Because, "Dogs love trucks!"  :cheese:

We took Rufus to the vet and he weighs 44 lbs at 15 weeks and 1 day of age.

The cat took a swipe at him tonight, but they seem to be ok considering it was the 2nd meeting and the first where he wasn't on his leash.
