tried using the search but its down.....
« on: Mar 16, 2006, 04:09:45 PM »
how do I measure what backspacing I need for my new rims? I'm buying some rims for my 98 dodge ram and dont know what back spacing I need. Also if I get a 12.5 inch wide tire will it fit ok on a 10 inch wide rim? or do I need a wider rim/skinnier tire? Sorry for the dumb question but I dont want to make a mistake and buy something wrong. Also as the title states I tried using the search feature because I know the info is out there but the search is down. Thanks for any info  :beerchug:

the 12.5 wide tire on a 10 wide wheel is perfect,   measure the backspacing on the stock wheels  and get that spacing on the 10inch wheels,  or close to it

Thanks for the info   I have another question. To measure the back spacing properly do I measure to the lug holes?

backspacing is the distance from where the wheel touches the axle face,  to the inner edge of the wheel

i have 10 inch wide wheels with 3.5 inch backspace

thanks for all the help. Its just hard for me because the wheels on my yota have 3.5 inch back spacing but i'm buying wheels for my ram with 60's so i'm not totally sure.

does it have wheels on it now??  if so  pull one off and measure it,

i bet if you tell the wheel people what your putting them on they can help

but i would say 4 inch backspacing  is the norm
