Thanks, Progress has kind of stalled since its my DD. I still have ideas but just dont want it down for any time.

For sure. I DDed my 4runner for 3 years and had no back up vehicles. Anytime anything went wrong, I was willing to pull an all nighter cuz I had to commute 400 miles a week for several semesters. Just could not afford down time, no matter what. I have a lot I want to do now, but currently the problem is lack of $$$ :)

The first pics I had rears in the front with a extra leaf from something. After it was built I switched it to 4" marlin springs with the short leaf removed.
I built my frame and had the cab sitting in the driveway on furniture dollys for a week or so.

I bent another main hoop so now I can take the front of the cage off or on. It just bolts to the front, bottom and 2 places on top. I made tabs like light tabs that come from both sides to tie them togather up top. I was glad it was on when I was in the creek.

I'm having some rear spring issues. I have been using fronts in the back turned backward to move the rear back. Its finally killed the springs from the twist of the rear axle. I hate to keep putting rear springs in so I have to make a traction device to save them or the other option is to 4 link it. I dont want to relocate my fuel tank and start a big project at the beginning of the season and I remember seeing a post where somone made a rear link system that the top link only attached to the left side of the truck. I cant find it now, anyone remember seeing it?

Nice, nice build Dan.

Ditto Muffler Outpost. They did my exhaust on my Jeep a few years back and the work was unimaginably horrible. A freshman in a high school welding class could have done better literally.

Every time I drive by there I cannot believe he is still in business.

Thanks for the tip on a good exhaust shop. That is looming for me quickly.

That last pic reminds me of my adventure up against those new fences. Slid down into them in the snow last Easter and could not get out without a winch. Also broke the steering relay rod (still IFS) so we were screwed. Had to walk out from there all the way to Dinkey Creek Road in the snow, have someone pick us up, and come up the next day with a winched vehicle to get it.

I am using 4" marlin springs in the back. They don't flex as well as long springs but My rear shackle is only a few inches from the tire. I like the great departure angle. I'm thinking I might just get another pair of springs and make a traction link and bump stops to save them. I never made bump stops in the back because I didn't think it was heavy enough back there to bottom out the springs.

just rock ranger rears mix them with stock toyota rears... they mix well aren't very long and there is no reason they shouldn't fit...

there 56" long but you can reverse them and run the long side up the frame or vise versa...

you could always mount your shackle hangers like mine instead of extending rear.

I actually think my shackle hangers are a little too far back. I decided to go ahead and get some more springs and build a torque bar to keep from bending them. When I four link the back I can keep them to use on the front of my next rig. I just finished the diff bracket, I'll get pics on soon. Now that some trails are open I need to get out there and get some more action shots.... :yikes:

       :(

Got in a wreck a couple of weeks ago.  The toyota is toast. Bent the frame just behind the shock tower and bent thefront axle just inside the left ball. I'm going to part it out when I get the word from the insurance co that the case is closed. The only thing hurt is the frame and front axle so I'll be selling the cab with pink and exo cage with the 4.3. All I really want to keep is the t cases, front axle, seats and some other stuff. Watch for it in parts for sale. It would be easy to just put it all on a new frame and avoid the smog laws.

This is why I want to save some of my parts......  Just got it last week, #052.  Still thinking about what to do with it. Right now it has a 5.0 ford and a C4 auto.

Sorry to hear it man, this was one of my all time favorite Yotas. Glad you've got something to keep wheeling with.

Thanks, I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with the F toy. It depends on if I sell the body with the 4.3. I would like to see someone use it but if not I think I might strip the wire loom out and use the 4.3 in the buggy. There is too much missing from the EFI on the 5.0.  Right now I'm just looking for a DD.

spun around in the rain on a freeway on ramp. A car behind hit it in the left front wheel when I was almost facing him. I dont know if it was because of the locker, the light bed, or the tranny shifted and broke them loose.  :dunno:  I was in traffic and was going the same speed as everyone else.

Thanks, I might try to straighten the frame when it quits raining. It should be easy to do and then I can plate it. I will still probebly part it out if I can sell the body/frame/engine. I have trouble driving it with my back problems because the cab is so small and I cant get the seat back far enough. If I cant sell it I might cut out the back of the cab and make it a crawler and sell the F-toy. If I end up selling that I will keep the motor and trans and just sell the rolling frame.
I just have to wait and see what happens. Right now I have too many cars sitting around. I bought a '58 ford PU for a DD but it needs a lot too before I can start driving it. Thats why I want to keep the 5.0 from the F-toy is for that. Besides most people dont want a 5.0 in a F-toy.

Geez Dan that blows, thats a sweet little ride. With your skills it wouldnt be too big of a stretch for you to put the Toyota cab skins on the FToy. Now that would make for a nice DD that you could stretch out in!

got rid of the F toy, tried to get in it and decided it was for people younger and shorter than me. Right now I'm just going to park the truck in the back yard and maybe part it out this summer if I cant sell it as it is. I bought a '01 taco that I'm not sure how far I want to go with it yet. Its kind of nice to have a DD that is almost normal.
