Such a beautiful site.  A clean frame at last

With a little help front gotrocksgirl I started to clean the frame down  of all the remains from the brackets.  She doesn't really care for sparks so I bundeled her up in one of my sweatshirts (believe it or not she actually asked me to buy her carhart pants so that she could work in the shop with me)

In actual working hours I have only at this point put in about 5.5 hours or so from it coming into my shop.  I fell very confident that I will be able to finish tomorrow.  I decided to take the day off from school and get it done since I don't know when I'll get help to finish it up.

Tell me what you guys think so far.  Do you think I've done pretty good for being mostly a one man show?

lilbuddy

Right on! Now finish it and take more pics

Youre lucky to have a woman that wants to be in your shop and help... I must say I am jealous
RIP Kyota.... you are the man

GET IT!!!

Pics HAHAHA Don't worry I have LOTS of pictures.  I only posted maybe a 4th of the pictures I've taken.  I always love looking back on buildups and seeing how it was built and figureing out ways to improve.

YES I AM LUCKY, wouldnt' trade her for anyone. She's extremely hot and likes trucks.  What can I say.  It doesn't get better than that.

sloyota

looks like a good job so far.i also took apart the ifs to get closer with a torch for less grinding.its cool to have your girlfriend helping, get to spend time together, work on your truck and teach her about trucks.lucky guy..know get that runner flexin....cheers     :beerchug:

Nice work so far!

My truck is back on the street and seems to run a bit quieter, must be the lack of bearing grindage.

hahaha well actually there is.  last night I was to tired to get any pics posted.  It was deffinatly not the fastest that I've worked and wished that I could've gotten more accomplished.  I am extremely over cautious when it comes to measureing mounts and so I spend A LOT of time measureing and re-measureing my locations on the mounts.  The last thing I want is to get my front mount off and have my truck drive horribly on the street.

Its a good thing I did measure mulitple times because I found that my frame is bent slightly.  Its actually off a 1/4".  I had only tac welded the front crossmember on and then found out while I was figureing out the rear shackle mount that it was bent.

gotrocks

With the final grinding of the frame I was just about ready to bolt up the front crossmember

I drilled holes in the mount so that i could bolt it on and set it exaclty where i wanted it.  By doing this it makes sure that I get the offset the same on both sides.

I feel sorry for my other runner,  It just sits in my shop 90% of the time and never goes anywhere.  I hadn't driven it since June when the motor got all messed up again.  Now its going to sit without a front axle even longer now

Free at last I see the light now

Moments after this picture was taken gotrocksgirl got her finger smashed under the axle as she and I were positioning it for the leaf springs.  I felt so bad.  She thinks its broken and we'll just have to wait and see.  I had a finger brace and so I just had her put that on and save a $300+ hospital visit just to have them tell us that yes it is broken.

gotrocks

After that little insident I got the axle up and finally mounted.  I really hope those marlin springs settle.  They look like WAY MORE than 4" of lift.

And now finally on its own weight

You can see that I really like my axle as far forward as possible and so now I get to relocate the steering box to allow for proper steering angles.

gotrocks

Took another day off from school today so that I can get more done due to a slow day yesterday. (not to worry I know its Valentines tonight have something planned)

Todays To Do List.

1. Relocated the steering box
2. Finish the final welds on the front
3. Weld on the rear springs mounts
4. Swap over the rear axle
5. Weld on the front shock hoops from marlin (hopefully the UPS man comes)

I went wheeling with Jayson161 a while back and his truck, now for sale, sat really tall on his Marlin springs.

The winch should help out some  :dunno:
