we decided after waiting and watching the group in front of us struggle and not make it up with their rigs that we'd take another trial.  I blazed trail for us to get up to a pit that I knew about and did a little high marking.  I always love being the first tracks.

I backed up just a little to far while I was trying to back around.  I could've gotten out with a little shoveling but hey it was faster to just get a little tug from blackdiamond.  Besides I didn't want to make him feel bad and be the only one that needed a pull.  (J/K BD)

BD had a little bit of a hard time getting up into the bowl.  I think with a little different tire preasure and maybe sipping his tires it would've helped.

Me seeing how high I could get.  I got higher but I couldn't hold it without sliding backwards.

it was linked in the back with coils and he had a funny rear cutdown stock bumper.  he was running 35" boggers and chains in the rear lock as well but the front was open.  Boggers really suck in the snow if anyone didn't know that already.

We decided to head back and try our first trial hoping that the group was either gone or coming back.  We met them and were told that we wouldnt' have a chance making it up the worst hill.  They told us it was a winch fest and that no rig had made it up either way without a winch.  I knew I could make it up so off we went to go try.

Yep we made it.  I actually was pretty dissapointed that no one else had made it up those hills.  I don't know if it was my driving or my rig or the combination of the 2 but I made it up with out to tuff of a time.  Just as BD he couldn't believe how well we made it through after seeing so many people struggle.  The one thing that really ticks me off though is guys who head back to these difficult trials and aren't able to make it up them so they just hook their winch up and drag their trucks up whatever it is.  Anyone can do that. I could take a VW beatle and make it down that trail if I had the intention to just drag it from tree to tree.

blackdiamond

It is as he said, I required a tug here and there.  At least the  2nd time we headed up the trail I managed to make it up the hills that he previously tugged me up.  I think my driving skill was getting a little better as it was my first wheeling trip.  I made many attempts to get into the bowl, but couldn't get close to where gotrocks was.  Also, the worst hill, I spun out down around the corner, oh well.

The trip was excellent!

good, well I'mi going wheeling again today hopefully we'll have some new pictures that I will post later tonight.  Last night I got the axle and crossmember painted up after they started to rust a little.  I knew I should've painted them before last weekend but I wasn't able to get it done in time.  I hope to get the interior finished up very shortly here in the next couple weeks.

Snowrunner

Sweet pictures! Im  definitely jealous now. I dont see why people were havin trouble on some of those places at all. Have you got a chance to work on that OBA setup yet? I think youll like it alot when it gets done. If you need anymore help with figuring it out let me know. What diid you air down to? It doesnt look like your tires are poochin at all? Well I might be comin home this weekend to start workin on the runner. If I do and ill give ya a call and see if your around. Later

Great job GotRocks! That thing turned out excellent!

Your run looked mighty exciting, I wish I lived down that way. I may be moving to Alberta Canada and Cali is only a 1 day straight run so I may end up seeing some of you guys some day soon :crossed:

:slap: I guess you had to be there  :dunno:

I was having trouble due to a lack of snow wheeling experience and having no traction (having my tires siped might have helped some).  I followed gotrocks down a hill and he was able to drive down without sliding, but my truck simply slid the entire way down while attempting to go the same speed.  I was running 5-7 psi in my 33's and one of my rear tires developed a slow leak so I probably wouldn't be comfortable going much lower.

Snowrunner

Yeah the traction and experiecne are probably the two biggest things lol. Took me a while to learn how to wheel in the snow and I still learn everytime I go out. Thats about what I run in my tires for psi too to much lower and beads start comin off to easy. When I get my hunk of junk put together ill have to get chris and go out wheelin with you guys sometime

we aren't from cali we're from washington.  Not as many rocks as cali has but hey I'm only a days drive from the rubicon.  Hope to go there this summer.

oh and snowrunner, I had my tires around 4 and 5 PSI if you saw them closer up they were pooching out more.  I just did a run up Government today and broke trail the whole way.  There was around 6 to 7+ feet of snow up there and we had an AWESOME day.  I know you would'a loved to have been there.  I will be gone this weekend because we're having a b-day party for me over at my bro's house in Bellevue.  One of these weekends I'll be back home and we will go wheeling even if your rig isn't done.  Just hop in my truck and I'll let you get behind the wheel to stratch that itch I know you've been having for quite some time.

gotrocks

Here are a couple pictures from today.  Mostly to just make snowrunner jealous.  I'll post more later but I need to get to bed beacuse I got school at 7:00 A.M.

I sure is nice to break trail all day.  Not a person in sight or track for that matter.  We got around a 1 of fresh last night and I'm guessing more in the past few days because everwhere I drove didn't even look like anyone had been there in a while.

For the most part I was able to float on the top but I sunk through a couple times as you can see.  Never got stuck though.  I had my tires around 3.5 psi in the rear and around 4-5 in the front.

gotrocks

We made it up this really steep hill.  It doesn't look like it but you'd have to see it in person.

We rounded the top and came down a almost verticle section.  Our of the windshield we only could see the snow in front of us and the back glass was a clear shot of the sky nothing else.

gotrocks

I have to say the more I drive my new runner the more I'm falling in love with it.

I let gotrocksgirl drive some today.  She's still learning that whole clutch/gas combo thingy but she's doing pretty good for not having to much experience off road.  She can drive it fine on the road but hopefully I will soon be able to let her take over the wheel and teach her a few things.  I always makes me happy when I get to see someones face light up when they get to drive.  It adds a whole nother element to four wheeling.

Poowoo

Hey dude, I'm glad you have a rig that finally works :) Now I just need to get mine regeared and locked and Front Driveline lengthened and I will be set! Hey I was also thinkin... what kind of a locker do you think I should go with in the front? Lockrite? Detroit?

Poowoo

What is a perk of an aussie locker?

gotrocks

aussie or lockright either or.  Hey poowoo go down to killmers they are having a big sale on gears.  One of the guys I know just got a full set for under 400 bucks.  with setup kits.

Snowrunner

Well for what is worth for a locker just depends on how much money you want to spend just about 95% of the guys in dayton just weld the fronts up  and they work great. Im my old runner I had arbs and wouldnt trade them for anything. I dont have experience with the others but just my 2cents. As for you Chris if you wernt my friend id beat you for taunting me like that lol. Those are some saweeeeet! pics. Nice snow too. Defnitely we will have to go wheelin when your home whether or not my rig is ready. Hey happy early bday to ya to since I wont see ya. Have a good time and your bros.
