Good work Brian!!  I can't wait to get up there and wheel with you.  Patricia and I will be in the area from the 6-9 Nov., so we should try to get together for a bite to eat or something.  "Big Black and Tan" looks like it's about ready to shred!  Cheers bro!! :beerchug:

ahhhhhh :pokinit: koup that does not look good!  let us know what happened  ...... man that really sucks.  :tantrum:  it is also lame that either your truck is down and mine is up, or my rig is down and yers is up  :shakehead:  we will wheel though, u just wait.....   Sorry about not callin you bro i knew you wanted to help but i thought you mighta been busy cause of your truck.  i saved the best for last though,  i need a front drive shaft and i know a guy who has a super sweet square drive line up front.  KOUP i need ya on that one, you tell me wat u need and i will have it.    need you to help me weld it.

Now for an update and some answers:

to all:  thanks for checking out my build and posting.  i am not a big poster but i have checked out most of your rigs and every body is doing a very nice job of keeping it real. if it were not for your posts all over marlin land i would not have been able to build this truck and find out what will work for my style of driving.  so hats off to all of you who keep building and progressing forward.

3wm yoda:  my motor is ok not the greatest but not the way it was either. when i first got to look at the truck i found no oil and it started using coolant. (bear in mind i have now found out that the boys parked my truck like 2hrs prior to me finding it) so i just figured head gasket.  but i put 3 and 1/2 quarts of oil in it to get a reading on the dip stick.  it did not look too snotty, so i drained the fluids (engine and diffs) and have been checking them and every thing seems cool except my truck smooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkeeeeeeeeesssssss heavy when you first start it ... nice light blue grey smoke.  and i have only driven it like 50 miles since the capture of my truck so i still have my :crossed: and am still trying to diagnose.  they also managed to rip my exhaust off the hangers and i think the manifold is cracked cause it sounds like its popping popcorn near the head.

Now for the good stuff:

got my axle swap done and  :yikes: wow is my truck awesome now!  never in a million years did i expect it to ride as nice as it does or flex as nice.  and my springs are new, if it only gets better with time its gonna be super sweet.  put both diff breathers up as high as we could get em ... rear diff breather is in the cab and the front is up along the fire wall around the brake booster.  that should help with the water crossings and deep mud eh?

got a grant steering wheel in there too...  it looks cool but very small i dunno if i like it or not  :cheese: also got a new tailgate but i cant have it till christmas :shhh:

New wish list:

new motor
4.70's
twinstick
LCE header
propane propane
rebuild tranny
front fender flares

well we all hate a smokey engine.
maybe bad valve guides or seals, or possibly leaky piston rings.
my white truck smoked at start up too.
then i hydrolocked it about 3 times in 3 months... GREAT idea.
Yeah that pretty much made it smoke 24/7, pretty imbarassing.
it made my plugs foul up immediately after changing them, making for one doggy engine.
check your plugs, if you havent already.
they should tell you which cylinders are problems.
and maybe a compression check.

I dont know about you.
but if it only needs a head job.
I'd much rather only do one of those... then to swap a new engine in.
just thought i'd throw my :twocents: in.

also..
I do agree with you.
Everyone's builds on here....have inspired me in so many ways.
given me sooo many options and ideas for my next truck.
i cant wait.

Hats off to everyone.
and you Taco man! nice build.

haha i know your not talking about my build unless i've inspired you to fix stuff on a budget of absolutely nothing haha.

if your lucky it might be bad valve guide seals, pulling the plugs like he mentioned will give you a good idea on which cylinder or cylinders needs work. also do a compression test, if a cylinder tests low shoot a little bit of oil in there and try it again. if the compression raised up a considerable amount, new piston rings will be needed (sorry).

well brian, ive got some good and bad news....
ill give ya the bad news first, Eileen is getting put down, her motor needs a rear main and her frame has cancer....soooooo, time for the good news!

in 7 days(yes, that is correct, December 20th), i will be picking up my NEW rideeee..... pickin up a 95, jeep tj, every bolt on you can imagine, 33 all-terrains, 2.5l, AUTO, and its pink

HHAAHAHAA naw just kiddin, but i AM pickin up a 95 toy, x-cab, v6,sr5, FULLY LOADED(ya, i kno, pimpin), 5speed, i helped build the bumpers on it, its either got an intake manifold gasket issue or head gaskets..... but the best part is its solid, no rust, no dents, $1,500!!!!!   its a buddy of mines, he's not real mechanically inclined, so fixin it isn't his cup o tea, n he needs $$ to buy a cheap car.... and i need a truck.....

it'll make an appearence when i come back from break in Jan., so keep your eyes open for a new build page of her.....i dunno if im sonna SAS it over break, or wait till spring break, but all the front suspension is factory, so i might just chop it all off right away, but who knows...

sorry bout the thread jack, but the excitement is insaneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee haha later mang!
