The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first.

I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.

I've just been watching series of videos of military personnel making surprise homecomings. And it hit me...again, every one in harms way takes obvious risks and makes obvious sacrifices...the less obvious sacrifices might be the hardest to make. I'm speaking of time spent away from your wife or husband...and the irreplaceable time spent with your children.

I am constantly amazed by the character you show and your sense of duty.

Thank you all

A want to send a special thank you out to our brothers that fell last week in afghanistan, around 30 american troops, when a chinook helicopter went down, supposedly from taliban fire. They gave everything they had, so we could enjoy the things we have.

I started looking at this everyday since I made it to Afghanistan.  I try to say a prayer for all their families.  Pretty sad website.  I filtered by date and location on a few and found some guys I know.  Makes me want to do my job that much better.  It really brought all this home for me being here.

Today, as we should every day, we celebrate and honor the men and women who have chosen to serve our nation in the military. Since before the first stone was laid in the foundation of this country...there have been those that answered a higher call. I thank them.  :usa:

79coyotefrg......A special thank you from me and my wife to your dad, and may God be with him and his buddies.  Thanks to brave people like him, this country is the way it is. People who DO NOT support and respect our troops,  who are out their fighting for us all, should be ashamed of themselves.  When I hear someone bad mouth anyone in the military, it pisses me off.  Instead, do what I do, walk up to them and shake their hand, say "Thank You Sir for everything you and your buddies are doing for us all."  I think everyone should do this too.  To me, it is an honor to shake the hand of a brave soldier.  :usa:

I'm thankful that we have the strongest military in the world, if it were not for them we would't be very celebrating today.

I know many...family, friends and some both, that made the choice. To all that serve or served...I send most humble thanks. I try, but I can not know...the burden you bear, forever.

In Your Honor

Unselfishly, you left your fathers and your mothers, You left behind your sisters and your brothers.
Leaving your beloved children and wives, You put on hold, your dreams—your lives.
On foreign soil, you found yourself planted To fight for those whose freedom you granted.
Without your sacrifice, their cause would be lost. But you carried onward, no matter the cost.

Many horrors you had endured and seen. Many faces had haunted your dreams.
You cheered as your enemies littered the ground; You cried as your brothers fell all around.

When it was over, you all came back home, Some were left with memories to face all alone;
Some found themselves in the company of friends As their crosses cast shadows across the land.

Those who survived were forever scarred Emotionally, physically, permanently marred.
Those who did not now sleep eternally 'Neath the ground they had given their lives to keep free.

With a hand upon my heart, I feel The pride and respect; my reverence is revealed
In the tears that now stream down my upturned face As our flag waves above you, in her glory and grace.
Freedom was the gift that you unselfishly gave Pain and death was the price that you ultimately paid.
Every day, I give my utmost admiration To those who had fought to defend our nation.

The wife went to Riverside National yesterday to put flowers on her mom and dads grave. We also have a club member there too. I salute those that served and more importantly those that served and lost their lives leaving family behind. This in honor of James Chappell and the ones he left behind and my wife who misses here mom and dad every day.

That was a good poem.

I am not a supporter of the Military and their politics.

I do, however, have much respect for the individuals that serve.  What a commitment.  While the government may make stupid decisions, these individuals bear the consequences, because they believe in fighting for us.

Somebody has to do it, and I salute them for their courage.  Here is the Hanalei brige with my mother, friends.  The late Senator Inouye helped get it declared a historical monument.
