SAS wheel stud problem
« on: Nov 30, 2005, 10:05:21 PM »
Can anyone tell me the length of a stock wheel stud from a 84-85 front Toy axle?  I'm not getting enough threads on my stock studs thru my 1.5" spacers.  Anyone know the length so I don't have to tear it down to look around?  Anyone know where to find longer studs?   :hammerhead:  all day long!

the studs should be about 1 1/2 inches or 2 stock. If you need longer studs try ACE hardware.

Try a parts house or your local tire/brake store.  At Les Schwab Tires we used to have a large wheel stud collection, and sometimes aftermarket wheels were too thick to get enough exposed threads for the lugnuts!  Just cross reference the knurl diameter and thickness at the base of the stud, with one that has a longer thread count!  It might be time consuming, but well worth it in the long run!

Hey, Thanks ya'll  I have a lot of work to do yet on the front (brakes, driveshaft, bump stops, shock mounts) before I'm going to tear the spindle apart to pull a stud.  I was hoping there was a standard stock length someone could tell me so I could source the studs while out running around.  I guess I really shouldn't get ahead of myself!  Thanks again!

You can try using the rear studs if you have an old axle laying aroound. If I remember the rears are a tad longer than
the front's.

check the pbb, they make 2 different lug nuts for the spacers, one has a longer thinner neck on it the grabs more threads.  Chris gieger can get them so can marlin.
