I started on the spring hanger tonight.  Turned out pretty good, I should have it completed tomorrow night.

The tubing is 2.5x2.5" x.150 wall,  the hanger tabs are 2" flat bar .188 wall.

I did not get very far because I had some destractions, more to come later.

Front spring hanger is all welded up and now all I need to do is drill the holes and attach to frame.

I also got the holes drilled in the cross member, to bolt it down.  One is crooked, must of miss-measured :smack:

I picked up the tube today to weld in the frame for my front spring hangers.  I am getting a pair of 2wd ranger spring, and also a pair of stock 85 Toy rears from a friend.  I am going to throw those in the back of the truck with a 2" block :shake:  just for now so I can get in rolling a little sooner, and work the bugs out while i wait for funds to buy the 4-Link shiat.

I want to try and get the front axle in this weekend and the body ligned up if i have enough time between work.  :crossed:

Got some pics for ya's.

Front spring hanger is centered and attached to frame.

I installed the rear end some I can roll it out of the shop later this week and attach the body.

whiteman

A couple more.  Check out that shackle angle in the second pic :eyebrow:

Those springs in the rear are the procomp 4" springs, a little short I would say :yesnod:

whiteman

More work was done tonight, I slid the front axle under nieth it and started determining the length of shackles I will use.

Instead of mounting the shackle hanger thru the frame i am going to make hangers like the rear suspension uses and attach the to the bottom of the frame.

The springs in the rear are front 4" lift springs, I just put those in the rear so I can roll it out of the shop and put the body on it. I am not going to leave the rear set up with the leafs, it is getting a 4-link.  i have been taking measurements and using a degree finder with setting up the front so I am making sure it will be spot on, at ride hight with all the weight on it.

I am actually re-thinking the Idea of mounting the shackle under the frame.  Since today is valentines day i am going to spend the evening with my girl.  I will take a break from the build up and let my mind clear up.  I will definitely be thinking about all the things I am doing and make sure it is done right, and strong.  It just seems hoeky to me to do it the way I am thinking, I want it to be clean. :dunno:

Frame jigs are $10 from sky manufacturing, you already have the tubes it looks like

I am going to make my own jig from the shackle location on the 85 frame, should work.
I have some depressing news that has got me real pissed.

My mom, ( :shake: yes I know ::) ) told me that if I 4-link my truck she is taking me off of her insurance and i will have to find my own, right now i pay $540 every 6 months.  If i am on my ow the cheapest i can find is $185 per month just for liablity.

She does not think the 4-link is going to be safe and does not want me to do it to my daily driver.  I dont no if it's gonna happen now.

I am hella upset :rivers:   :rivers:   The only way I think I could get around this is, I did make student of the month this month so maybe I can bribe her with that, well see. :crossed:

I will keep you all posted

show her my truck and boogerweldz truck.. i drive mine on the street every day and  booger's is his daily driver.   his is dual triangulated 4 link  1/4 eliptical  and im radius arm and 1/4 eliptical..  it rides better and corners better than when i had leaf springs !

She just doesnt understand the concept of it all, I think she has been talking to my uncle because he is totaly negative about me lifting my truck.
I have been showing her trucks of all sorts with all different kinds of linked rears and she dosent like the fact the i am locating my rear axle with links. :smack:

I only pay 113 a month for 3 vehicles and I have all sorts of accidents and tickets and I don't go through my parents.  But its only liability I don't know what you have you should only have liability if you are paying $540 every six months.  Mine comes out to $678 every six months which is not too much higher than yours.

Thanks 86 4-runner , but I went ahead and mounted my shackles under the frame. My spring hanger has 5" of drop so I am going to run the shackles off the bottom of the frame. I made my drop brackets so far down so I will have more clearance for my steering, i want to have my bump stops set right before my spring s flaten out.  I got the hangers made last night, tonight I will try and get the shackles made and have the front suspension done for now.
