LOL- thanks for the advice on lights but here's the dilemma.  I have 4 round trailer lights and 2 round backup trailer lights (bright) AND the wire inverter.

problem is they dont' fit where I want my lights to be and the sami ones lying around do (also wiring is the same so it's easier)... sami lights not permanent but I probably will use em for now.  I think they are gay too.  :-\\    I like trailer lights  :drooling:

I can't wait for my doubler to get here  :woohoo:

rebuilt the carb and choke (runs like a FI now)
gonna finish the tube flatbed this w/k
will also try to weld up the sliders

I have interior back together and have full doors minus panels and the window trim/pass. door weatherstripping (need one)
I'll get pics up by Monday.  I know the old ones are... well old  :tantrum:

well here's an update.  I have not been able to work on it lately b/c I didn't have a welder and things were tight (the usual)  but tonight I bought a Lincoln ProMig 175 welder.  I will be rolling on the truck every chance I get now so I can wheel it asap.  I'll find my digi cam and update the pics as well for those who are still following it.  thank you and I'll be laying beads of snot real soon  :smack:

since pics I have built flatbed, moved gas tank horizontal against cab, expanded steel floor in flatbed, RUF (5pack) with marlin shackles and sky mfg. front hanger, marlin's ubolt flips (f&r), Marlin X-over steering, IFS box waaaaay forward (almost done), and tonight I built some rear spring hangers that should work and give a tiny bit of lift with my 01' Tacoma doublecab rear springs and homemade rear shackles.  That's about it but I'lll update my pics this w/k hopefully.   I know buildups suck without pictures so I'll get on it.  :yesnod:

don't worry- I'm gonna kick ass for th e next few weeks and get my tcase's doubled up, suspension worked out, interior figured out, and a front bumper + fix my crappy 36" tsl's to hold air (at least 4psi of it)

well I am still learning how to weld.  in short.... I suck like everyone did when they started.  but I got a little bit done today.  here's the pics of progress.  got the ifs box mounted, finished flatbed floor, mounted fuel tank (gotta hook it back up in a.m.), made a 25' 220v extension cord  :shake:  , made the rear spring hangers, and lost my ubolts from my marlin flip kits.      also spent a good chunk of day learning to weld with flux core wire.  I hate it but I'm getting there.  enjoy

UPDATE.  worked on it a bit today and here's what I got done. really nothing but I suck so what can you expect?  :dunno:

You stole my idea! I have an 04 Tacoma Grille sitting in my garage. Well at least I know that it looks cool. I haven't seen it on a 3rd gen yet, maybe I will be first there.

haha- it wasn't my idea.  gawker *roommate*  had it on his rig for the past few years.  so I stole it since he reworked his front end.  I like it.  think I'll keep it.  hopefully my junk will support it's own weight tomorrow  :crossed:

well today  I bolted the springs in and added some homemade shackles (still gotta move the shackle mount for a better angle)  :bull crap:
I also swapped pitman arms on the ifs box and mounted the drag link.  went through and torqued the steering arms, tie rod/draglink, ubolts, steering box.    that is about it.   adam got his roll cage in from EOR and it's HOT.  thanks and I'll give you guys some pics when I get it driving around this coming w/k  :banana:

off topic but-  does it seem to anyone else that my 5leaf staggered RUF pack with Marlin's 4.5" shackles seems really tall?   thanks

well I had to move the shackle hangers b/c of poor shackle angle  (too leaned, might invert).  so here are a few shots of what I did tonight

ground down the o/g shackle hangers (after cutting them off) and plated them with 3/8" I think.  ground down the frame so it'd sit flush again. welded it on and temp. bolted the shackle in to reveal what I think to be a good shackle angle.  certainly better than before  8)   I'm a NOOB to welding so critique is expected.  I did the best I could  :crazy:







I have less than 3 weeks to get this thing wheelable (leaving front open and on plain ps and stock axleshafts for now as well as patched up 36" TSL's)  thanks for looking        ............ note:  I will brace the shackles after I'm done adjusting them this week  ;)

thank you... I know that my welds need to be hotter, slower, wider, and steadier.  we'll see how the other side turns out tomorrow.  gotta put it in high gear ASAP!

I went back and ground that weld back down and re-did it with much better penetration.   also finished up the other side.  torqued all suspension hdwr. and steering components while I made sure it was all Gd. 8. $$$  :shocking:

it's supporting it's own weight and I need the following to drive it.   hook up IFS box, hook up fuel tank, pull front Dshaft, weld rear of front spring hanger to prevent twist'age.   that's it.

I also need some iron blocks (please don't throw a fit,  I need them until I find a better way to level her out).  thanks
I am putting the marlin sliders on today as well.  thanks for looking and if you can please help me on the ps lines, fuel lines ID thread in the tech forum.  later   :sly:

here's an update for those watching my slow'ness

got rear springs in, ubolt flip kits, rear 14" procomps and mounts, 1 Ford Tower and 14" pro comp done (1 to go), radiator repaired and in, building Front Dshaft, 2" BS 15 x 8 krawlers, 36"s mounted w/o tubes, sliders almost ready to install, gas tank plumbed and running well.   that's it lately.  gotta go wheeling next w/k.

have to finish Front Dshaft, 1 more Ford Tower, bleed brakes and install rear brakehose, sliders, finish welding backside of front spring hanger (HARD 4 ME), low psi steering fitting. that's it for this week.  would like to get my HELLA lights up front so I can ditch the stock lights- they are gay.

wow- I feel really special... thank you for the enthusiasm about my buildup.  see ya there

the hardest part about the bed was the "S" curve in the rear of the longer pipe.  notice how they do that.  done by a HF bender at that  :rofl2:

today- I......

   -finished building the front Driveshaft and installed it (got 3" of inward travel... enough?)  :dunno:

   -finally got the nerve to weld in the back side of the front spring hanger ( 6 2.5" beads) burned the crap out of myself, but it's up there for good now.  ;)

   - got the passenger side slider completely welded on (had to make a 3rd leg b/c I cut one wrong)... I am gonna add some gussets after this w/k but they'll be ok for now (it's just uwharrie)  :driving:

   - and I got all 4 shocks mounted.

hopefully I can get it leveled out ( bring up the rear or lower the front? ) build a bumper, tie the bed into the sliders and the sliders into the bumper (maybe), dual case it  in the next 2 weeks.  woohoo.

btw- my welding was much improved tonight for some reason... think I got the heat/wire just right  :clap2:
