Grinding noise
« on: Sep 17, 2005, 11:17:26 PM »
Tonight a couple of us went out wheeling and I beat on my truck pretty hard and when we were leaving to head home I noticed a loud grinding noise coming from the front right hub. I unlocked the hubs and the t-case and it would quit so I don't think it's the bearings. I don't know if it could be the hub, or the birf, but I'm hoping it's not the birfs because they're 30 spline longs(doubt it's this but not sure). Tomorrow I'm going to pull it apart and see, but if anyone has any ideas of what to look for and what it may be let me know.
Thanks, Kane Smith

It might be the birf, but I'm not 100% sure :crossed: hopefully its not!

sounds like the rotory girder is all out of wack, when you beat on them real hard it throws the bands out in the flux capacitor which is glued to the girder, but man let me tell ya them girders are no joke, you've really gotta pound on them hard for one to take a :pokinit: on your chest . if i were you i would go to boob joints, at least they have greasable nipples.

bring it to the house and we'll stick a wrench on it and see what we cant figure out.

I found out that it was the passenger side birf was seized up and would turn if it was straight but if I turned it would seize up and not want to straighten out. I called Longfield and they said to send it back and they would rebuild it or replace it if they couldn't fix it. Now I just have to put it in the mail and get it to them. Thanks for the offer on the stock birf but I already have on but I'm just going to wait for the other one to get fixed so I'll still have a trail spare. Thanks again.
