could it be that the pads on the right side are new and the left side are old?
Yeah at least check your rotors on both sides and make sure they're not grooved....been there done that!!!
Yes. ALWAYS change both sides at the same time with the same type of new pads. You also need to have your rotors turned or replaced.
I've seen more problems with brakes after putting in just new pads! Best and safest thing to do is just replace the whole caliper with a remanufactured unit. And should turn rotors and replace both at the same time! I did alot of brake work at Les Schwab and seen this a thousand times.
