You just weld the spider gears, that's it.

Also weld them to the carrier, much stronger that way.  Weld anything you can to anything you can anywere you can weld it.

What I do is take a bolt and lay it in the valley between where the gears meet. Then just weld it up.Don't worry about welding it up to the carrier or crosspin Never had a problem with this setup even in a d/d.

I wouldnt weld the pin myself but thats just me no real reason.  But I do weld a plate inside the "window" of the gears and I weld everything together as a solid chunk of metal.  Everytime Ive just welded the spiders to the side gears Ive blown the spider gears up and destroyed a ring & pinion set.

once i get the third member out of the axle do i take off my ring and pinion and then weld it or can i leave it all together. would i have to take the spider gears out to weld in between the teeth or does the plate setup eliminate that problem.

:usa:  A better way is to collect up some old wheel balancing weights, make sure they are lead, then melt down all this lead and then just pour in the molten lead into the spider gears, this will lock up everything solid and will not damage the gears in case you change your mild, if you have a higher heat source then you can use copper, gold, silver, bronze.

This method does work, however make sure that you are wearing the correct gear when you work with lead, it is poison, it can kill you.
