Finally did it, finally got another truck, Jeeps just don't cut it.
Will take more photos in the daylight tomorrow.
It's a 97 model, whilst you were busy getting the first gen Tacoma we got this.
Has the front end of a 2nd gen 4 Runner and the ass is like a 3rd gen pickup but has a few differences.
Cab is proprietary and shares no parts with anything else despite looking similar. Like, throttle pedals are identical, except they are different.
Has a 2LT which is good for 90hp, W56, VF1A. Not sure on Diffs. Maybe 4.3:1
7ft bed.
Workout windows, no central locking.

Swapped the alternator for a new unit of spurious origin, not impressed with the quality. Need to repair the other one. Now charges.

One thing off the list.

Waiting for a day when it is not blowing and raining sideways to take some pictures.

Meanwhile, got it stuck in the field, been a while since I've driven a pickup...bald road tyres won't help.
Had it on the lift and it needs a few things, park brake cable, rear of rear driveshaft UJ, rear diff input seal and t-case output bearing. Howls when going down the road. So I assume its that.
Think first gear synchro has fell out of it but not too worried about that.
Need to free up the locking hubs as well.
Fixed the headlamp by wiggling the shoddily repaired wiring.
Need a new rear view mirror as well as its smashed, don't know how, before anyone asks.
Have a set of 32x11.50 16's but not sure they will fit on it stock would prefer like 31x10.50 but use what you have and all that.

Got under her yesterday, on my own ramp and wheels free this time.. found things ::)

Rear diff bearings shot...
Rear tank crossmember about to drop out...
Front shock exploded when in the air and bled to death
T/case rear output has play.
1st gear synchro gone.
Rear of rear prop UJ is shot.
Rear park brake cable is seized.
Pass front wheel Bearing has play.

Other than that its showroom..

Time to go hunting for 4.88's in the barn

Not too bad overall. Sounds like it has few maintenance needs, then it will be a good reliable truck. I thought you always considered 2LT's doorstops?

They are but they work, the mechanical pump turbos are pretty good to drive.

looks like a bogger knockoff. I know it will fit, it just won't steer or or go up and down.  :burnout:

Its actually a Simex knock off, ala Rainforest Challenge. Made in Spain, they wont touch a Bogger for grip though.  They are not necessarily what I want but they are what I have and I am done with all terrains.
The Farm is built on clay and I want to see what its capable of with a bit more grip, seeing as how baldy ass road tyres wont let me past the gate.
I have been driving SUV stuff for 2yrs now and the truck requires a different driving technique, this never occurred to me before as I had always driven pickups , which is also probably why any British "off roader" will tell you they are :pokinit: off road purely because they dont know what or how to do with them.

One of the most enjoyable 4-days I've ever spent is at the Run To The Sun Car show in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

Walking around on a golf course next to the Colorado River in mid-October, while listening to Oldies piped throughout the course, seeing more earlier automotive eye-candy than I can take in.

https://relicsandrods.com/

The show now includes 1972 and old cars and trucks.

The most fun for me is getting to chat with the owners about their vehicle and why they spent so much time and money resurrecting and restoring an old relic.

In some cases, they have owned it and preserved it for 40 to 60 years!

I'm curious.  What motivates YOU to resurrect a pickup that appears to be in need of lots of repair and restoration? :dunno:

Cause there is nothing to replace a Toyota pickup. Especially an early one. So the only choice is to fix them, nurture them.
