here is my broken junk. slid around a muddy logging road a little to fast and into the side enbankment. all that happened was a broken steering box shaft and tweaked bumper.

OK, so when I bought the truck, I knew the rear frame was in bad shape rust wise.  I said I'd wheel it till it broke and then replace it.  Well that's pretty much exactly what happened.

I slid down a steep hill into a downed tree that I wound up straddling and my rear diff got caught on the tree and well, this is the result.

Already got a new rear frame done, check the sig.   Believe it or not, we trail fixed it, wheeled it the rest of the way down the mountain, through the mud and back home.

Not serious carnage...but scary as hell.  And not really on the trail....but I wish it was!

My steering shaft didn't want to tighten down all the way.  So the bolt was tight, the shaft was not.  I did not know this.  I just tightened the bolt, and didn't see if I could yank the shaft off the splines.  Over time, it slowly backed off the input to the steering box until one day going down the highway at 75....   So I slammed on my brakes...and then found out that I had a damaged brake line that had been waiting for a panic brake to put enough pressure on it to pop...  So I started drifting over, realized I had no steering....stomped the brakes and got about about 1 second of brake time before "POP!" and my foot went to the floor.  Fortunately nobody was in my way.  I hit the center cables and took out 6 posts.  Total damage was a broken spring center pin, crushed fender and cab.  It was badly tangled in the cables, so the tow truck had to pick my truck up on the other side, take off the wheel, and pry the cables off the front axle.  This could have been much worse, and it was probably the scariest thing that's ever happened to me.

My usual comeback for that one is, "How much of your Jeep is oem"? Then like you noticing that the axles are not I continue my reply, "Hey Those axles don't look stock, why don't you put that Dana 30 back in and call me and we'll see who goes further".

I have been pretty lucky and happy that all i have broken is the rear output of my t case. installed a Longfield output and i have been trouble free ever since.

Hey quick draw, you forgot to add after all that you might need a new seat?
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

Haha yeah, fortunately my axle housing still seems to be straight after that so I haven't needed it yet...

And yeah...new seat might be in order.  It certainly had a pucker mark.

After some quality time with a BFH and fresh paint, it's much less noticeable now:


Still ugly on the cab...  I haven't pulled that out yet.   The cable marks are cool though.  You can see 4 distinct cable impressions/cuts in the sheet metal still

BTW, I am NEVER running doorless again.  After worrying about theft, rainstorms, losing :pokinit:, etc on top of nearly losing my leg in the accident, the added visibility and cool factor is not worth it at all.  That said, I may run some half doors, but it will have to be on a quick release system so I can swap out doors just for the trail.
