Axle Rebuild Question
« on: Mar 21, 2010, 10:40:56 PM »
I have searched the board and cant seem to find anything so could anyone let me know if they have encountered this problem?

Yesterday i was working on rebuilding my front axle and came across a problem... the outer c clip has no room to be put on the end of the axle shaft...i know your supposed to put a bolt on the end and then pull the shaft out then put the c clip on but for some reason there isn't enough play to even see the ridge that the c clip should sit in.... has anyone encountered a problem like this? or have any suggestions? i need help idk what else to do.
Thanks
-Gonzo :headscratch:

Maybe you could use like a broom handle and try to hit the shaft from the other side of the axle through the diff

yeah your axle is pushed in a bit to far grab a spare bolt and thread it into the end of the birf and give a little tug

Did you try the bolt in the end of the birf trick, or you just know your suppose to try it?

I have had to put a bolt in there and use a small prybar/screwdriver to get it to pop out before. I replaced my spindle bushings when that happened tho.
