Lost spark and have no clue
« on: May 31, 2008, 08:49:54 PM »
I was charging up my battery to my 1985 toy 4runner that has a 1992 22re 4 cylinder in it , but it would not start I thought something went hen SH_T with the battery so I changed batteries with a good one and now have no spark. I know what your thinking, it ran before and now it dosn't he didn't hook something up right, well that is not it. I swithched my coil igniter on to my buddies truck to see if it would start his truck and it fired it right up, went over every fuse and connection 10 times, still no spark, my question is if something was screwed up with the battery while it was charging could the charger some how burn the brain to the computer of something else. The rig was running down the road perfect the day before and everything else in the rig works fine.

does it do anything at all, crank over or is it just nothing when you turn the key?

No it cranks over just fine, I was wondering also, what are the odds the magnetic senser pickup in the distributer went out, in my opinion something just went out all of a sudden for no reason at all, or it has something to do with charging up a battery that may have been shorted out inside if thats possible and it burned something out in the electrical end. Thanks for helping :headscratch:

my pickup coil just went out about a year and a half ago. it was like 150$ to get one from toyota. also a while ago i was going down the road and my truck died. i pulled off the distributor cap and somehow the metal on the rotor separated from the plastic.
lets not and say we did.

Pretty sure your rig is pi**ed at you for not using it enough this winter, you let her sit in the yard long enough, she might have decided to just stay there :driving:
