It's not the cleanest, but it's still a cool truck!  It's actually a 67 that somebody transplanted the newer front clip onto.  They also painted the entire dash tijuana chrome    Came with a granny 4 speed   and a 305, but the tranny is getting swapped out for a t350.  I'd go 700r4 myself, but he's already spent more just buying the truck than he should have anyway.  He's also going to raise it back up a little bit, especially since it's sitting hard on the rear bump stops and they're splitting in half!

700R trannies can be a problem unless the rear end is geared right...they keep kicking in and out of OD and it blows them up.   the bumper is bent up.  Not a bad looking truck, but a little flashy IMO.  I drove my boss' 71 while my truck was down; I like those things.

Yea, the bumper is a reflection of the general condition of the truck.  Looks good in the pic, but get within 20ft and you start to see some minor flaws, get closer and you see more!  Still, it's the truck of his dreams and he's still pretty stoked to have it.  I started telling him about a similar one I had my eye on and he knew exactly which truck I was talking about, said he tracked down and called the guy and he was kinda pissy cause he kept getting offers on it

It still looks good for its age.  That model and the '49 to '51 years are my favorite years for chevy!  My dad had the '72 Chevy Cheyenne package with the two tone blue and white.  It was a bitchin truck.  When I was in high school I almost bought a killer '67 chev p/u that was built up and fast, but I didn't have the $ for it!

Is it the pic. or is there a large dent in the side of the bed?

It's an illusion, but there are several smaller dents on that side of the bed, spots where they didn't finish putty over the bondo and the rockers.... the rockers

Side marker lamp on the bed suggests '68 or newer -- '67s didn't have them.  Not my cup of tea (too flashy, too low  ) but looks pretty darn good in the pic  .  Congrats to him for his new truck!  I'd wanna straighten the front bumper though -- it stands out like a sore thumb. 

If he's interested in a forum with tons of info & advice, he could try http://67-72chevytrucks.com.  Good bunch of people there and they run a tight ship -- rock the boat much and you're outta there.

Really?  I just heard that second hand from somebody who knows less about them than me, so I didn't know.  Slight chance they just switched out the whole dang body I guess.  Considering how they did the dash, they obviously weren't right in the head

Yeah, it gets hard to tell after the parts swapping starts.  The hood (emblem) and front bumper indicate '69 - '70...  '71 - '72 had no hood emblem, and had lamps in the bumper.  Aftermarket grill doesn't help identify which series it is, though.

I thought '67s all had the small rear window.  Or maybe it was a '67 only standard feature, with the big window optional in '67 and standard from '68 forward...?

I went into work today to clean up some parts and my boss told me he got some new parts.  He snagged an aluminum holley intake and holley carb, pete jackson gear drive and some headers.  I'm pretty sure he traded the 4 speed for it all.
