Any guy who takes his woman wheeling enjoys her. A woman who is owned is left at home to cook, clean, and keep beer cold. So if this offends you you should stop looking and go have some tacos.    :rofl2: And a beer. If your old enough.   :beerchug:

welding 4 days a week, 10 hours a day.  well actually i have only been working 3 days a week for about 2 months.  my checks suck.  i am broke, wish i was working at least 4 days and 5 would be fantastic, 6 even better.

Schizophrenic more likely.  I got banned from the local bicycle shop as a kid cause the owner was just like your boss, everything was great one minute, then the next he thought I was trying to rip him off.  Don't bother calling him on it if he is, you don't know which guy will respond.

my boss is supercool. actually at any of my jobs. one is an older guy who cooks steaks and owns teh restaurant. always laid back and hooks it up with ravioli marinara every night i work :woohoo: $9.50/hr

the other restaurant/burger place both bosses are cool. i work with my brother im usually doing fries and setting up buns and occasionally a milkshake or taking out orders. $8.50/hr

i go woodcutting with my girlfriends dad on weekends, make $120 a weekend doing that. all i do is split and stack wood, and ill make more this summer because ill start running a chainsaw. frequently cuss him out for makin fun of my splitting and still get all my cash for it. and vice versa. we use his saws and truck, super nice 54GMC on 8lug axles

and woodcutting with my dad. made $35 tonight after we went and got a cord of wood earlier today in about an hour and a half including drive time to and from my house. use my dad's saws and truck 40% of overall profit of woodsales.

oh and did i mention i have no bills except for the gas i use when i drive my truck? :gap:

My last boss was/is a lying b*std; he told me I couldn't get a raise because I was "the highest paid tech in the shop" at the time. Not true; us techs hang out together and we know who makes what. He also said if I got ASE certs (got 'em) I could get more $. Well, about $160 and 3 tests later I still didn't make more $. Thanks. Ass.

I've gone through that, "you make over scale" talk way too many times.  If I don't get a raise this year I think it'll be 3 years, and I've already told them I know they won't kick out any more money.  My boss says he goes to bat for us, but he kept telling us one year he was working on our raises but we never saw them, then acted like we were asking for the world when we wanted raises the next year.  I've been there just about 14 years and have only had one boss I didn't have to fight for raises.  I'm just not going to ask for one this year.

this is why I'm self employed now. I was sick of the b.s. dreams, I may not have it easier but I know where I'm going.

Here is the philosiphy my father preached to me when I was about your age.   I sort of listened to back then him but now that I'm 36 I really understand what he was trying to say.

As long as an employer is willing to pay you for the extra work take all of the hours that you can.  I know it screws with a social life but with more money at a younger age you can set yourself up to work less when you get older, when your body won't let you work longer hours.  Take the money and invest it in a house. (now is a perfect time for that)  That way you can have it paid off sooner and be able to indulge in the fun stuff without having to worry as much.    (It went something like that) Trust me, your social life can come at any age.  Its just you will have more money to have it with.

:slap:   Thanks for making me sound like my father.

I agree with this...and this is the reason I am broke and in debt. I have been hearing "well pay you more down the road" for 7 years...that's why I stuck around.  I believe in doing your job the best you can, and trying to be the best at what you do. I believe you will get back what you invest.  I have learned that this isn't true. I work long hours and get the shaft for it. I was told again the other day I will NEVER be able to have saturdays off because I am the only guy my boss can count on....so this means my coworkers have been rewarded for being fat lazy pieces of :pokinit:.  I'm gonna rob this place blind one of these days. :maddest:

I see your point here but, you may be selling yourself short. all we've heard so far is all of the bad stuff. In the last statement you mentioned "your the only one he can count on". Bosses & employees are like Fathers & sons, as a father you want to give your son all of the right tools so he can advance in life. most of these tools are constructive criticism. you must crawl before you can walk theory. being you are so important that he needs you on saturdays may be the training required to become his replacement. good help is hard to find. how is your attitude on the job? if you handle the job well but your attitude sucks maybe he's just waiting for you to age like a fine wine. ok now let me get back to my redneck self.   :smack:

disclaimer: there are bad bosses and fathers out there with ill intent so watch out.

Duffil

well my attitude used to be great but I really hate being there now and I resent everyone. Basically, flopp everyone and fire me if you don't like it.  after almost seven years there, I am totally capable of running the place myself, and have done so a few times. I don't want to be his replacement and I never did. I want a job where there is a future and I can actually make decent money (ie, being able to buy a house).

sandboxtoy

yeah, it's time to start filling out applications, you sound pretty burnt. time to move on and get excited again. lots of people hate their job, it's the money that keeps them there. I prefer to hate mine but love my hobby, than to make my hobby a job and hate it too.

Blingn

this is how I feel about my work right now.  my lead can be cool away from work, but I stay out of his way at work.

Duffil

in a semi-related cruel twist of fate, I have to close the store today. Boss is leaving at 4pm.

It can't be all bad if your are getting paid to play on the Intardweb.  Many of my customer's (I own a computer service business)have very strict policies regarding company internet usage.  I have had to be the narc on more than one occasion.
