Killed My Clutch
« on: Dec 10, 2007, 05:26:28 PM »
Well my clutch has been getting pretty hot when I'm out wheeling and when I'm driving in traffic but I didn't think that it was so close to death. I went out on the trail today and had a little bit of fun until my clutch stopped grabbing. I still have good pressure but I don't get anywhere. The RPM's just climb and the truck goes nowhere.

I recommend you do not do any wheeling until you get some diff gears at least. In my opinion you are even to high geared for the street, hard on clutch!!!!!!

I was convinced that my clutch wouldn't survive 33's with stock gears which is what forced me to swap the ring & pinion in my 85.  I can't imagine 35's.

Well, that's at least part of the reason why you need a new clutch if not the reason.

Thanks for the info folks.  I bought the truck just as it sits and havent had time or money in the past fewmonths to do anything to it.  I know that I need gears and trust me I want them even more.  For me it is one step at a time, One dollar at a time.  It will all come together oneday.  This little NAVY pay check that I get aint that big.

The key to money in the Navy is to get deployed so you have essentially zero expenses.  There is the obvious downside of being deployed though.

The problem with that is even when i am deployed i still have 98% of my expenses.  I still have a family to support.

I'm actually an engineer at a Navy shipyard so I get to support you more directly than most.  What type of ship/boat are you on?  I have only worked on submarine maintenance.

You must be attached to an air wing?
