help quick no brakes
« on: Oct 14, 2007, 06:05:59 PM »
i tried bleeding my brakes 3 times.  the rears dont bleed.  i pump and hold.  turn bleed valve and the pedal dosent move and nothing come out air or fluid and the pedal stays stiff.  the front do.  then when pumping brake pedal fluid looks like it is coming up from the bottom of the cup.

is my master or  booster bad????
truck was sitting a year with out moving with the brake lines disconnected( dont ask me why)

how do the shoes look compared to the pads? if the pedal doesn't drop when you crack the bleeders then most likely you have a blocked or collapsed line. also remove the bleeders completely from the wheel cylinders and clean the bleeders out with a small drill bit. i have seen them rust shut when people loose the rubber boots that go over them.

no,  you have lift  but didnt raise the  lever thats attached to the  rear axle did you :slap:

take  that rod loose  from the axle  and tie it with a zip tie  up to the frame rail or crossmember,  this will give 100%  brake pressure to the rear brakes,  then you can  bleed them

i keep mine  like that

while this is  very true,  do  what i suggested first

the LSPV  must be raised  if  you have a lift  or it will not send any brake fluid  to the rear drums

its  the  load sensing proportioning valve

the more weight thats in the truck brings the bed/frame closerto the axle  making it  need more rear brakes,  so  if  you lift the truck and dont lift the arm  it  doesnt apply ANY brakes  to the rear

it appeared to bleed fine the first time. I lifted the lpv rod all the way up and no luck. I also have a lift for that bracket installed

you either have a blockage in the LSPV  or  you have a  smashed line,

take the line from the front of the truck loose  where it goes into the LSPV  and see if you have juice there,  if you do  you can bend it down some and hook your rubber line  that goes to the axle directly to it,  thats how i have mine
