Step side beds
« on: Apr 29, 2007, 03:46:04 PM »
I have seen a handful of toyotas with steop side beds and I would like to get mor information on them. I don't know if the beds were an option back on the early years, or if they are a swap from another vehicle. If anyone knows anything about them, or knows where I can gets more pictures and specs about them it would be appricieated. Thanks
Josh

what years are you looking at? i havent seen any stepside beds on early toyotas. some of the tacoms do have a step looking bed though....

i have seen a lot of beds that kinda fit, put onto different trucks... a popular one i have seen is a chevy luv pickup.

i actually have a 83 bed on my 84 yota

Northwest Offroad Speccialties Inc. has a picture of a few toyotas with stepside beds in their catalog. They call it the "California Stepside Conversion."

Not sure if they sell the beds themselves or what, but you can order a catalog from their website   www.northwestoffroad.com/

The step side bed wasn't an option on the early Toyota's. It was an after market product. I thought they looked good but it's a mini-mini-bed to an already mini-bed.

Thanks for the links guys. I love the way they look, and since I have 2 toyotas now I don't mind the limited space. It's either this or tube the rear end out... the bed is junk.

I checked out the links, but to no avail. I can't find an e-mail address to contact them. I can't call, considering we onlyget to use the phone so often over here and I would prefer to talk to my family. If anyone can find pics of toyotas with step sides, even if from different model trucks, I would appricieate it.
Oh and the truck it would be going on is an 83... nothing but 1st generations buddy. Only the best.
