Differences in 22re's?
« on: Mar 16, 2007, 03:13:44 PM »
I've got a line on a 22re that supposedly needs a head gasket.  The guy bought the truck for $800 for parts.  I was told it might be a 92, I have a 87.  Now there was something about a cutoff year were things changed with the 22re?  If I remember it was 85 to 91 had the same wiring efi setup?  And the TPS was changed to a 3 wire in 92!  Am I right?  I there any other diference I need to know!  Please help me out on this!  I might get this motor cheap!  If I can get any help on this, it would be awesome!!  Thanks!

As long as you get the ecu and engine wiring (which you will need anyway because you have a turbo EFI) Then you will be ok.
1986 Toyota 4Runner 22re 5spd transmission and dual transfer cases (4.7’s in the rear). E-lockers front and rear.

2005 GMC Sierra diesel, compound turbo setup to pull.

Get everything.  There were injector impedance changes, ECU changes, and wiring connector changes 85-91, the big year is mid-1988...

Will the efi intake manifolds bolt up to all 22re's?  Even if I got a newer motor?

Intake bolt batterns should be the same for all efi heads.
