It's been a little over two years and this will be the first trip in the bdrunner.  We'll be rolling out in the morning early.  Google maps shows 1,113 miles to Moab!

We arrived yesterday a little afternoon after 20-1/2 hours of total driving on the way from Washington State.  The bdrunner did ok but I would have liked going a little faster along the way.  I was only able to cruise around 75 mph for a little bit of the trip, the rest was 65-70 mph due to wind, road conditions and 4cyl engine with 35's and 4.88 gears.  The altitude makes it a dog around town.

Yesterday afternoon we hiked to Delicate Arch to get some excercise.   :eye:

Today we're running Steel Bender.  I don't expect a difficult trail, but it's a great warm up and also a new trail for me.  :driving:

Hopefully we'll have some pictures tonight.

A few from Steel Bender.  I'm learning how to drive a new rig with a shorter wheelbase, higher CG and WAY more weight with four adults on board.  There were a few places that I ended up going around simply because it wasn't worth making everyone get out of the 4Runner.  The ledge in the picture that we dropped down was interesting, I did a bit of a White Knuckle decent.  My wife was running video but managed to push the button when I started to slide so she missed it on tape.  My buddy says he got the whole thing.  Overall it was a very long trail and I won't be looking to go back anytime soon.

Today is the Moab Rim followed by a minor engine repair.  Something is leaking on the front of my engine and I dropped about a quart yesterday.  I picked up the gasket kit for the front this morning.  It is leaking out the two lower bolts on the front cover (oil pump?).  There is a mechanic along on the trip that said if I got parts he would help do the repair.  I have bottomed all four shocks at least once and the fronts on a regular basis.  The springs are softer off road than I anticipated.  I'll probably have 9000's on my next trip, I missed being able to adjust the shocks as needed.

A couple shots from today.  I managed to break my twin stick (the replacement should be here tomorrow) along the way.  I'm stuck in 4wd currently, but I'm happy I can still change gear ranges.  This afternoon we replaced the oil pump gasket to stop a leak and in the morning I'm getting some daystar bump installed on the shocks to soften the blow when the suspension bottoms.

We're not sure what trail tomorrow holds, it will depend on the weather somewhat.

I can tell you that a long wheel base, lower CG and firm springs make climbing much easier in Moab.

Today our trip got messed up a bit with a rain storm that hit about the Escalator.  We met a group of Jeeps and caught a couple of pictures of the  red Jeep at some fun angles.  He was hung up in the Escalator when the rain/hail storm hit.  My oil leak has been fixed, replacement twin stick installed and now the radiator seems to be leaking a bit.  This trip is identifying the remaining "bugs" in the bdrunner.  The waterfall was coming down near Lion's back.

Escalator is the third picture.  The first two are the entrance to Hell's Gate and then Hell's Gate, respectively.

Did you try Escalator blackdiamond?

No, it was pouring rain and hailing when we got that far.  I drove it in the 85 and got a little body damage.

Yesterday we did about a third of Behind the Rocks from the Pritchett Canyon end of things.  I managed to climb White Knuckle after a few attempts.  There are not many pictures, but here is a screen capture of a failed attempt.

We arrived home today after 18+ hours of driving.  Ironically, after driving close to 10 mph under the speed limit in several states I got pulled over and given a warning about a mile from home.  The officer was nice and reminded me about needing mud flaps in the rear.

Looks great man.  So wish i could've been there.  Glad to see the bdrunner out and getting a good workout.  Hopefully the little bugs are worked out now.  Maybe some weekend you can come over and show us more pictures and video.
