Phone busy all day normal?
« on: Nov 25, 2014, 03:43:15 PM »
I'm trying to order the clutch upgrade for my '87 and have a question but I have been unable to get through for two days now? Must have called 25 times. Is that normal?

I have an '87 22R 4WD daily driver with 33's.  I don't rock crawl or wheel but I do tow a trailer often. Since I want to install a new flywheel anyway, I was wondering if my choice of upgrading to the turbo clutch kit was a wise choice? Any drawbacks to running the heavier flywheel on a daily driver? Just wanted an expert opinion and was going to place an order (which I can just do online) based on the answer.

I really appreciate your help! Happy Turkey Day!!

If you are towing often it may be a good idea to upgrade to the bigger, Turbo flywheel and clutch. It will keep your RPMs up between shifts... given the extra weight of a haul it would probably be beneficial... never hurts to upgrade  :beerchug:  I ran that setup once and really liked it.

Busy line is normal. I tried calling for a high steer update on the 1st gen Hilux and eventually gave up.

They are not there on fridays and not there on hollidays either.when they are answering it is very busy and it is best to get your calls in very early in the day, also if you tow,a heavier weight flywheel will improve you performance

So how would I go about exchanging an item if I can't ever get them on the phone?

Good question.  It seems like the bottleneck of the business is the phone access.  I'm fortunate to be able to drop by in the mornings on my way to work.  Limiting calls and access on the phone would cost me money in my business, but I'm not selling 4x4 parts either.
Did Toyota accept a government bail out?

Marlin makes really sweet stuff. I ordered a short throw for my R151 about a month ago and had a ? about the core after I installed it. Took my 3+ weeks 20 times a day to reach them on the phone. Couldn't believe it when they picked up. Don't really understand why they can get a bit more help with the phones. Good luck.

I do kinda have trouble understanding this too.  If they're busy, they're making money.  If they're making money, they should be able to hire more people.  If they have more people across which to spread the load, they can make more money still.

I agree with this. I would also throw in inventory problems. They make awesome products/stand behind them but dont seem to be able to keep them in stock.  Think of how many people click here to buy a product cant.  Dont want to wait an unknown amount of time and simply click over to a competitor and buy.

I couldn't get through by phone but after placing two orders online and receiving quality parts with FAST shipping I'll have to say you can't ask for much more. Now if they'd just answer their phone.  :clap2:

Thanks Mitchell! I would love to know how many of those tech questions could be answered with a little online research? That way the rest of us could spend more money.  :D
