ok. i did a cab swap and now i'm lost o what wires go to the red cable . starter the  ? my truck is a 1980 .

Everything that powers goes to the positive post (+) side of the battery, anything with fuses, going to fuse blocks, & starter.  The only thing going to the negative post (-) should be a battery cable coming from the engine block, and a ground going to the fender panel.
