What Are These Wires For?
« on: Apr 02, 2007, 01:23:45 PM »
Was working on my 82 Pick up a little bit this past Saturday and I found a few wires that had been snipped.

I'm hoping someone can tell me what the heck these are for? From there I can figure out how to go about hooking them up again.

from the looks of em, id say temp or thermostatic sensors. dont know what else it could be near that area. did you find any sensors or plugs that they may have gone to?

Nope but I'll have a poke around tomorrow since I'm pulling the carb off.

Looks like someone spliced in a harness from a different year engine.  Prob had diff. emmisions setup than yours.  Your carb is hooked up so that part is all set...there should be a metal clip that attaches that green connector (well maybe more a dirt yellow) for the carb to the carb body.

Hmmm, could be.
I'm gonna poke around it more tomorrow after work and I'll snap some pictures. I'll be removing the carb to rebuild it so it will be prime time to get pictures and make sure everything is correct so the truck will fire.

Using the pics a friend sent me (thanks) and this wiring diagram, I think I got it figured out.

1st pic is for the horn.
2nd pic is for the ignition switch.

I'll confirm this on the truck on Thursday.
