front DL , cv or no....
« on: Nov 09, 2010, 08:41:17 PM »
im pretty sure i could find the info elsewhere    mainly the PBB, but i dont like it there lol...

I recently installed duals and of course had to modify my drive lines...  i am not a fan of square as i have had that and didnt like it... (even with a tight fit it was loud..

So I shortened my rear shaft and am making a new front shaft out of a old rear shaft. . .

soo, I guess my topic would come in more as a conversation piece than help.

Who runs CV's front or rear....  and on top of that, does anyone run the same length driveline front and rear..... in about 3" off with my duals, RUF, and non drilled front spring pads so it would be easy for me...

I know alot run CV's in front and rear.  Just depends on the angle your driveline is running.  You could get by without them, but you run into a greater chance of binding up.

On a side note, I saw a crummy on the top of the wilson today with snow on it.

I do not run a CV but Davez made my front D-shaft and he used two IFS single joints. They have a lot more angle to them then the SA single joints. I also run a HP diff in the front.

If you are going to try and use a spare for both the F & R and the rear has a CV, put one on the front also, clearence it.

i never had a CV in the rear and the front didnt really need it.... im sitting pretty low really, and with the amount of flex i have i had no problems wiht the 84 cv front shaft.....

saying that i just cut the end off my d shaft and took 7 inches out then welded it back together, i have very little vibration with all four tires in the air doing prob 40

my last rig had rears up front so it had a ton of down travel and i was running triple cases
so i had a 2 pcs front shaft with NO cv they have way more flex then the CV joints
but i did have a cv in the rear ( less vibes)
yep it was a flat belly allso  :gap:
