quick question about body lift
« on: Jan 13, 2010, 05:00:55 PM »
I have a 3 in NIB and going to cut down the blocks to 2 in. Now do i just cut the bolts down and inch also and thead them?  For people that have installed these before is there anything wrong with this? 1984 truck.

you tell us, if you can cut the bolt down and have enough threads left, then it should be legit. if your going to have to re-thread then it might be easier to buy new bolts an inch shorter

edit:

but cutting the puck down is no problem. assuming you can cut straight then it will be fine

Cant you just install the BL with the same bolts, thread the nut on, tighten down and then cut the bolt?

depends how deep the threads are ... because if he cant thread it tight enough then he'll need new bolts as stated byDoof

Any guy who takes his woman wheeling enjoys her. A woman who is owned is left at home to cook, clean, and keep beer cold. So if this offends you you should stop looking and go have some tacos.    :rofl2: And a beer. If your old enough.   :beerchug:

why would you have to wing it just measure and inch shorter on the bolt from where its sitting you you have thread than you are fine if not spend 10 bucks on some bolts and use your old washers and what not. you should only have about 2" of shank or what ever you wanna call it and that should work the body lift is 2 and then the bushing and sheet metal.. Simple mathmatical equations can help.
